| Di Maria isn't worth the prices quoted that's for sure.
The player they should be trying to buy from Madrid is the young French lad at centre back (forgot his name) or Godin at Athletico.
The squad looks so lopsided in quality

Doesn't it just.
De Gea is already really solid, Van Persie, Rooney and Mata are all of unquestionable quality, Di Maria will only add to that. He had a superb year last season, when most expected him to be dropped because of Bale's arrival.
In between the two ends of the pitch? Ridiculously low on quality. It doesn't matter whether Van Gaal plays 2 or 3 centre backs, they've got no quality in the middle of the defense or midfield. Fullback/wing backs are also problem positions he has nothing in bar Luke Shaw who is very young.
I just don't get the Di Maria signing tactically. He was meant to be playing this 3-5-2 formation he used for Holland. But in that system you need wing backs like Baines/Coleman not out and out wingers like Di Maria who won't defend.
Priority for United has to be centre back and centre midfield? Yet he seems happy with Blackett, Jones and Smallling and is even talking about giving Smalling a big pay rise ![CRAZY d040.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//d040.gif)

| Any other lower-league side smashing us 4-0 and I'd be congratulating them... But not MK Dons. Still a joke of a club, and the added 16k on their attendance tonight was hilarious. That guy was a ****ing ****head.
I hate the relocation of clubs and think it shouldn't be allowed. But I don't blame MK Dons for it. IMO the fault lies with Sam Hamman and the FA. Sam Hamman wanted to move Wimbledon somewhere else because then he'd get more money for flogging the club. He wanted to move the club to Dublin but the Irish FA told them where to go. The English FA weren't bothered though and would have probably allowed it, which just shows what they are.
If Dublin were allowed in the PL then they'd have probably been a massive club, and it would have probably meant Rangers and Celtic joining up too.

| Hopefully this signing for United will end all the sanctimonious self righteous ''our success is pure because we didn't buy it......like chelsea'' that we've had to endure over the years.
Spent a ton in the last year on fellaini, mata and di maria and they are a real pile of sh*t. The latest signing makes no sense at all. It's like they thought ''hey we've kind of bombed in the last 18 months in the transfer market, who can we sign that makes a statement?''

Will it 8o11ocks.
They'll still claim purity because they've "earned" all their money through football.
But hopefully they won't be getting any success anyway with the ridiculous way they've been buying.

You might get Balotelli though
'"
It will be interesting what role Balotelli is given at Liverpool. Whether he can form a partnership with Sturridge. I suspect they'll both want to play the same role.
Despite all of the off field craziness that surrounds Balotelli, the basic problem is that he has far too many stinkers. There aren't enough moments of magic to compensate for the days when he's totally ineffective or worse.
If Rodgers can convert the 3 out of 10 performances into 6 out of 10, he'll be a bargain. But nobody else has managed it.

| Man United now have the most expensive squad ever assembled according to the press. I haven't checked if their figures are correct. I love the way van gaal admits he doesn't know where he will be playing di Maria lol

Does that bring him to the end of his Chelsea contract? - If so, that is one of hell of a hit that Chelsea will be taking on the whole Torres saga, though I'm sure there will be a lot more to this loan contract than a simple getting him off the playing roster.
I'd imagine there will be a loan fee involved (I've read £4m a season somewhere??) and also a decent cut of his salary, but, overall, its all been a bit of a disaster for both player and club.
Also, can you see Jose making a late dart in the transfer market for a striker now Torres is going and Costa is rumoured to be far from 100% fitness wise?

Yes, he has two years of his contract remaining so this will take him to the end of it.
Most of our loans have seen us earn a fee and had most/all of the wages paid. I think with Torres it is completely the opposite. I think we'll probably be paying most of his wages and there's no fee whatsoever.
We also loaned out Bamford today to Boro and he's a young striker.
A new striker is pretty much essential for us. Costa is our main man and all important but we can't go into the new season with Costa and the 36 year old Drogba.
I'm almost certain we won't be buying British, so that will still leave us with needing to get rid of one foreign player from our squad. I've got a feeling that might be Cech.

| Man City lose at home to Stoke. Wonderful goal by Stoke but very poor from the two City defenders and the keeper.
Think that Toure should have had a pen, not the booking that he received. I definitely think that Toure bought the pen because he was going nowhere, but the Stoke player stuck his boot in high and that's a pen for me.
Stoke did have an earlier claim, but that was much more of a "seen them given, but most of the time they aren't" variety.
Have Man City always come up with "Cityzens" marketing? Zak Hardaker would say that it's effing gay and I agree with him. Lame.

| Have you ever seen defending worse than that from Everton today? Chelsea scored 6 today, but they never really did that much, as daft as it sounds. They could play far better than they did today and yet they scored 6. Both Costa's goals were farcical from a defending point of view, as were Coleman's and Matic's. Chelsea had 38% possession to score those 6 goals, imagine the tally if they had more of the ball?
Jagielka cops the majority of the blame, I'd love to know what's gone wrong there. He's gone from a stalwart of the formidable EFC backline, and an automatic pick for England to being a complete calamity. I don't think he passed the ball to an Everton player at all today, gifting Costa two glorious chances and costing Everton for quite a few of the goals.
Everton's attack was fine. Coleman, oggy aside, was oustanding again and Everton's goals were very good, particularly Naismith's. Big Sam Eto'o had a fantastic 30 minutes, scoring 1 and creating several very good chances. Impressed with him.
Some bizarre officiating again today. Ivanovic's goal was offside and live at the ground looked ridiculous. Howard's catching the ball a metre outside the box was also a head scratcher.

| Footballers these days eh? Joe Allen is obviously Suarez's replacement as Liverpool's chief diver. Going down like that should earn him a yellow, despite the fact that there was a pull on him. It's something they really need to cut out of the game.
Another thing annoying me is why Premier League players who do get fouled acting like it hurts so much, and continuing the pretence of an injury on for minutes afterwards. Koscieleny for Arsenal took a bang on the noggin in today's game. Checked by the docs and medical staff and passed as fine to play on. Despite having no symptoms of concussion, the player asks to be brought off just in case. Where have all the men gone? If he'd done that 20 years ago, he'd have been injured by his manager. And for that, he'll get paid £50,000+ this week.

The doctors may have said that Koscieleny didn't have concussion, but that doesn't mean they're qualified to judge whether he feels like utter **** and isn't able to carry on playing at the required standard.

Louis van Gaal manages like I do on championship manager. Just buy everyone because eventually you will stumble on a starting 11 that works. Or in its simplest term "throw enough s*** at a wall and some of it will stick".

Exactly - He is a clueless f****r ....... This is random buying at its best, he is simply buying for buying's sake.
No doubt, he now has a decent collection of attacking players, but a decent team??
The best thing is all the United fans wetting themselves on social media, yet when you ask them where you are going to play all these players, they come out with some hilarious stuff, such as Rooney as a central midfielder?? .....
On a serious note, can even United's finances stand up to this transfer spree, and, with it, an increasingly huge wage bill??...... It could be easily feasible that failing to finish top 4 this season could send United over the financial edge and into Leeds Utd/Glasgow Rangers territory?

| It is almost Football Manager-esque. I could never say no when a player like Falcao turned up on the transfer list, even if I already had four world class strikers.
Really struggling to see where Rooney, RVP, Falcao, Mata and Di Maria fit, especially when LVG screws his head on and plays 4-3-3.

| LOL at United.
150 mil and they've still not addressed the main weaknesses in the team. 20 mil on a loan shows how crucial it must be for them to get into the CL this season.
Just 5 mil on alonso would have improved them more.
