| Does "all footballing activities" include training with Liverpool
She also mentioned a ban from "administrative activities". Does that mean he can't be transferred during that period? Or registered in Liverpool's CL squad?

| So FIFA have actually gone and set a precedent of a total ban. Thought they would.
Would have prefered it to be longer but looking at it he can't even transfer due to the fact that he is banned from "administrative activities" which surely include medicals and such.

| Can't see any other club wanting to buy him now so Liverpool are stuck with him. Not that that will bother them, given they have brushed every other incident of his under the carpet

| I have a touch of sympathy with Liverpool. His ban should have been skewed more towards international matches, a bit less on the domestic side. Perhaps a 2 year international ban + 6 PL games.

Barcelona still want him.
Liverpool have said nothing less than £80m.

| Brasil squeak through, feel sorry for Chile.
I'd love to see Chile's manager in charge of England.

| Neither Brazil nor Chile particular deserved to go through. Brazil rightly get hammered because their strikers are utter pants and they are far too meh, but Brazil were much the better team throughout the match. If Chile were all they were lauded to be they would have won.

| Chile looked cream crackered by the end of the match. If they'd got through they wouldn't have been in much shape for the next game. But Brazil are very average.
Webb must be relieved. If Brazil had lost he would have needed an armed escort to get out of the country after disallowing the penalty and goal.

| If Webb had given the penalty he'd have been getting hammered because Brazil got another ultra soft pen. The commentators who are saying pen after the game would have said something completely different had it been given.
The lino was correct in disallowing the goal.

| I called the hand ball in real time, and thought Webb had a very good game overall. If the Brasil pen was the given then Chile should have had one mid way through the first half also. Both would have been soft, and Webb got both right IMO. As for the commentary I thought it was awful, I hope Keown doesn't commentate on anymore matches.

| How did he do it?
How did neymar handle the pressure of that penalty?
English players would have crumbled. They can't even dream of comprehending the amount of pressure neymar was under, let alone dealing with it. They can't even handle the pressure of playing for england, which is why they always crumble under the pressure of penalties.
Chile played with more heart, desire, passion and determination I have ever seen england play with. It must be a joy to support chile.
Gutting to see brazil go through.

I still cant work out why he took the 5th penalty. Penalty shootouts are often done and dusted by the time it gets to the 5th penalty.

I guess they figured they would have good enough penalty takers to get them through to the business end of the shootout, and then neymars would be one of the deciders. It proved to be the case, but they missed 2 penalties along the way and have have cesar to thank.
They took a big gamble, but it payed off.
Don't know if you recall but in euro 2012, Ronaldo tried to engineer a similiar thing when they had a shootout against spain. It looked like it was his turn to step up, but he held back and instructed someone else up, it looked like the next penalty (the one ronaldo was holding back for) could be the ultimate decider. As it happened, portugal missed, spain scored and ronaldo never got to even take his penalty
I think ronaldo was punished for his egotism in wanting the glory of the winning penalty.

Do you mean the illegally taken penalty??..... Christ, I wish the officials would have some balls and actually enforce the rules - Stuttering run-ups, goalkeepers saving penalties when they are about 4 yards off their line... Refs should simply do the correct thing and make the shots be re-taken, until the players stop all the ridiculous rule breaking.

Was thinking exactly the same when I saw his penalty. You are not not supposed to stop, it's one movement. Good job Aldridge doesn't still play, all of his spot kicks would have been re-taken.
As for the keepers, I don't think I have actually seen any keeper stay on his line for a penalty despite you seeing the referee talking to both of them before any shootouts.
As for Neymar himself, can't stand him. Can't stand Brazil. The sooner they get knocked out, the better. Hopefully the Colombians do a job on them this weekend.

| I think the Brazilian World Cup party will be brought to an end when they meet the Colombians in the quarter finals. Germany vs. France has the potential to be the game of the tournament so far. Too close to call.

| I think Costa Rica have probably gone as far as they're going to, but the rest are all on a par. Any of them could win it or get knocked out in the QF's. Its been a great WC for exciting games but its not going to be a great WC in terms of the quality of the eventual winners.

| Other than Holland possibly duffing Costa Rica, all the other games have potential to be tight nil-nil ers, or for someone to sneak a 1-0, or even all go to pens! I think the goals could very easily dry up from now on in.

Could flip a coin to be honest. I think the French will do the Germans, they look a bit like the Spanish at the moment. Germany have a lot of technical strength but seemingly too many midfielders that want to pass, rather than attack/score. They really miss Reus, is Podolski fit? I don't particularly rate him but he's never let them down at major tournaments, and his direct style offers something different to Ozil/Gotze. The French are attacking intelligently and seeing the likes of Sakho, Matuidi and Pogba reminds me of their teams from the past; physically they're so powerful and if Benzema fires they've got a match winner as good as anyone.

| It's been an exciting world cup however, there isn't a great team amongst any of the last 8 (or should I say 6). Any of them could win it I think with the exception of Costa Rica.
As for the Brasil game. Well, Brsil are really terrible. Fair play to them, they have so much heart but the lack of quality really is unbelievable for a team favoured to win the thing. The decline since 2002 has been shocking, from the likes Cafu, Carlos, Lucio, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, and Ronaldo to players like Fred, Paulinho, David Luiz and Hulk. I'd rather the Germans win it instead of them. To be honest, if the tournament was anywhere else apart from Brasil they'd have probably been eliminated by now.
