I'd go along with that. My only regret is that if england were going to lose as they did, they game wasn't over sooner and one of our players could have planted a leg breaker on the slimeball.

| Basically, we aren't good enough.
No need for post mortems, apart from not many refs seem to give us a break.

No questioning that we're not. But there are plenty of other sides who also aren't good enough and they, from time to time, find a way to overachieve. We never seem to do that, ever.

| The really sickening thing is some of these foreign players, they have play acting down to a fine art.
It's like they go out of their way to meticulously practice it in their own time, like a world renowned actor honing his performance.
A few times tonight england players went down when there was contact and the ref was having none of it, yet when the same happened with uruguay he couldn't put the whistle to his face quick enough, they dived at the perfect time and angle, the faux scream of pain then withering on the floor. Even if we tryed to start play acting we couldn't pull it off.
When sturridge was blocked off in the first half he should have been screaming and rolling on the floor in agony. An arm was raised in the vacinity of his head. That can get people straight reds let alone a second yellow. The england players should have been surrounding the ref agressively appealing, pointing out he's already had a yellow and pretending to tend to a stricken sturridge.
Roy hodgson and gary neville should have been in the fourth officials face, making him cower and back away.
We always get screwed to a certain extent by refs at major tournaments bu we kind of let it happen. We bend over and take our medicine.

| Holland I think now for me.
Not saying they will win it.
But I like the cut of their jib and I will be rooting for them, or hopefully some underdog that comes out of left field.
Would love a European side to triumph in South America.

They've never won it, they aren't germany, italy, france or portugal.
They tick all the boxes for me.

| Anyone but Brasil for me. Although, I wouldn't really like to see the Argies, or Germans win it either. So Holland for me too, but I don't rate them as highly as some, they do arguably have the best forward line in the competition so can beat anyone on their day. I tipped Chile as a dark horse before the tournament and if results go their way I still think they've got a good chance.

| England lost because they simply are not good enough to play on the world stage. The best players in the Premier League are not from England. The chances of England winning anything in the next 50 years are slim to none and slim just left town.

| Forgive me if I repeat anything that has been said but I really do hope that nobody is surprised by the gradual decline of the quality of English footballers and the national team.
The only way that England can hope to turn this around is for the Premier League/Championship to reduce the number of non English players in the competition and give more chances to young gifted players to ply their trade at the highest level rather than flounder in the reserves of a so called 'top club'.
Until then we can prepare ourselves now for the re-release of 'Three Lions' by the Lightning Seeds and Skinner/Baddiel in wheelchairs singing 50 years of hurt should we actually qualify for Euro 2016.

The reduction in numbers of foreign players in th ePL will never happen and obviously the England side will suffer badly.

Of course. It was all Gerrards fault. Jagielka played a blinder and wasn't to blame at all for the first goal, honest guvnor. ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif)

The best British player right now is Welsh. The best British player ever is Irish. England have rarely produced any real quality and never will. The best managers have been Scottish, the best British manager right now is Irish and has 3 years experience as a PL manager.
Uruguay is a country of 3 million people. Hardly any of their players play in Uruguay. Cavani and Suarez have just over 50 pro games in Uruguay combined. They then came to Europe, played in different leagues with different languages and proved their quality.
Putting in quotas for English players in the PL is just giving them positions that they aren't good enough to earn themselves. Making the PL worse isn't going to make England better.
Back when Division One was mainly British England weren't any good then either. And clubs like Liverpool filled their team with Scots and Irish and dominated the league. Right now we're not interested in Scottish players because foreign players are so superior.
Having a fantastic PL where players earn astronomical sums should be enough incentive for English players to work on their game and earn the right to play in it. They shouldn't be given the position just because they were born here.

| Cheer up chaps!, as the world cup is in Brazil have a look on "My Brazilian name" on that well known search engine.
If we dreamed of playing for Brazil found out what you would be called.....except if you called "Don Presley" ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

| If Luis Suarez had got his transfer to Arsenal or, more to his liking, Barca or Real, then he still might have scored two last night. But he'd have done it with a limp because England had kicked him in the air a couple of times.
Steven Gerrard was not England captain last night, he was the Liverpool captain pretending to be England captain. It's going to be so funny if Suarez demands to leave Liverpool after the World Cup because Real Madrid want him.

| Suarez is one if the best players in the world and he's a handful.
But the least I would have expected of the England defence was to know where he was at any time.
Letting him sneak round the back is pretty poor.
Spilt milk now ... come on Italy!

I've already said that they will lose today, and just as I type this they are 1-0 down.
There is no way Italy will go for the win if it meant England staying in the tournament. All this talk about "European Brothers"......it's all bulle lol.

Pretty much, LFC fans don't support England, he was keeping LFC fans happy, while at the same time doing his best to help their current 'God' through to the knockout stages.
They're not English, they're Scouse.

| It makes for a good contest Italy vs Uruguay.
Personally I would like to see Suarez not qualify, so on that basis he probably will qualify.
At the same time I think Italy are ordinary.
They will be hoping for a draw ... yawn.
