| Having just seen the photo of before Shawcross actually makes any contact, if Wenger doesn't know that is a broken leg, he needs help.

| No sympathy for Shawcross. His reaction to a hand-off from Adebayor in midweek was a disgrace. I actuyally enjoyed seeing him so distraught. Tough luck, Rag.
Sympathy for Ramsay. It was a terrible injury. Hopefully he will make a full recovery and it won't affect his confidence likes it seems to have affected Eduardo.

| I know Shawcross isn't "that type of player" (they never are ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif) ) but wasn't he the player who, for no apparent reason, put Adebayor into the stand when he was already off the pitch when Stoke played Arsenal last season?
I read an article a while back which said something like the myopia surrounding Wenger isn't from him, it's from "football fans" who go off on one whenever there is an incident surrounding Arsenal, usually attributing comments to him that he hasn't even made. He says a tackle is "unacceptable" and apparently this means everyone's sympathies should be with Shawcross. Odd, but then again I long ago realised that 95% of "football fans" are idiots.
I'd love to see how some of the posters on here would react if their teams were losing a player every season to this kind of tackle, given the hysterics smaller incidents often induce.

Please explain. Shawcross cheated last week and got away with it. At the weekend, he didn't cheat but he was sent-off. Divine retribution IMO.

I don't know what Shawcross did last season. I don't know whether he is a snide player, as I've read since this incident.
IMO the only thing to judge on is this incident. IMO in this incident Shawcross did pretty much nothing wrong. The fouls Shawcross has done in the past, the incident he was involved with in mid-week have no bearing on what happened with Ramsey.

People are rightly sick of Wenger's castigation of opposition players committing bad fouls when he refuses to acknowledge the bad fouls that his side have committed.
Shawcross's challenge was not a "unacceptable" challenge. It was simply an innocuous 50/50 which he happened to lose out on and unfortunately a broken leg occurred. By labeling it as unacceptable you are attributing blame towards Shawcross, which he does not deserve.

Just imagine if any current Arsenal player dived in, 2 footed on someone, injuring the opposition player involved?? Nah that'd never happen as Arsenal are paragons of footballing excellence and their ridiculously bad disciplinary record is solely down to poor refereeing.
And as for Shawcross "cheating" the other night - please explain what he did wrong??? It's not his fault he got clipped in the face is it???

If you are 'clipped', do you fall down in a heap?
Hopefully, he won't play for England too. Simply not good enough.

| Imagine if Fergie would have realised Rooney was a striker when Ronaldo was still around, they'd have easily beaten Barcelona with the Rooney and Ronaldo roles reversed
They'd have scored a fair few goals as well ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif)

He didn't go down "in a heap" - he went down more out of shock Id say but he clearly wasn't holding his face and/or rolling around but lets not let facts get in the way of having a go at an ex-Nited player hey??
FWIW I thought it was a very harsh sending-off but you can't say that Shawcross was cheating...but he DID used to play for Nited so that explains a lot in yr case!
And as for not being good enough for England - very probably true but at least Capello is looking at players away from the "big" clubs and City to find players who may be able to make the step up to international class.

Ha ha ha
His fall to the floor was to get Adebayor sent-off. No doubt about it.

While all other football managers point out any previous misdemeanors by their players when commenting on something that happens to one of theirs?

| A couple of questions for United fans:
Why use blue and yellow balloons for your 'green and gold' campaign?
Do you not think the "green and gold" campaign is rather lame? After all, wearing a Norwich scarf (while underneath your jackets you are sporting a red replica shirt) and then handing £40 to the Smurfs is not a 'protest' with any substance, is it?
Out of interest, what happens to the money raised by those selling the yellow and green merchandise? Were those involved in starting the campaign, also selling the merchandise?

If I worked at Man Utd I'd just ask Nike to design a yellow and green away kit again for next season.

Quite similar in that it was the unfortunate consequence of one player just beating another in a 50/50 situation.
Of course Owen Coyle wasn't castigated by anyone for calling that tackle an "assault".

Hopefully those that have bought them will further their protests by not giving any more money to the gnomes

Then again, justice wasn't served for Coyle, Gallas only got a yellow and I'm pretty sure Arsenal scored from the resulting tackle. If Gallas got the deserved red and Arsenal didn't score as a result of the tackle, Coyle's words may well have been different.

If you buy the scarfs directly from MUST you get them at cost price £3.50 iirc The street vendors are making a killing though at £7 a chuck
