The MLS is probably played at a quicker rate than Serie A anyway. [size=25Sits back and waits for Italian football lovers to come on the attack![/size
I personally think he should be in the squad. If not as a player take him as a coach, he's perfect for any player, one of the very few England players who shows pride in wearing the shirt IMO, and he has the experience that can only benefit the younger players.
Plus, look at how important Giggs has been to United lately.

| Quote ="ash4hullfc"Those players you've listed, what do they all have in common? They're all pretty pacey, but their end product is suspect. Walcott is the best of the lot; Lennon has improved greatly; Milner is getting better. I don't rate Young that highly to be honest, he still has a long way to go and a lot to prove. As for SWP, I think he's very average. His end product is shocking, he usually just runs into defenders and the amount of shots he has that end up nowhere near the goal is embarrassing.
Beckham offers something different to all of them. No matter what anybody says, he still has a superb delivery on him. Catalancs has summed him up perfectly. He can come on and close a game down, not to mention his leadership abilities. I'm far from a Beckham 'fanboy', Robbo4 will tell you that. I just believe he offers something to the squad that is lacking.
At this moment in time, Walcott, Lennon, Beckham and Milner go to the World Cup for me, with Young and SWP staying at home.'"
Beckham is obviously a better crosser than them, but, at the moment, with the world cup just around the corner and Beckham playing in the MLS, I believe his call up is completely unjustified. I believe Capello should be giving the others their chances whilst they perform every week in England.
I don't believe Beckham is a valuable member of the squad, he barely even plays for crying out loud. Valuable is Rooney, CAshley, Lampard etc., not Beckham, I honestly can't remember him doing a thing for England over the past year or so.
If Beckham gets picked, he has to be playing in at least a semi-respectable competition, I believe he's going to Milan in January, if he plays regularly and plays well, then take him, no problemo, but calling him up now for pointless matches whilst he's not playing at a level where he should be considered for international football, is farcical to be honest.

Even though he's playing in the MLS, he's still the best English player at what he does.
The likes of Rooney and Lampard are valuable members of the team in my eyes, whereas Beckham is a valuable member of the squad.

Michael Owen is the best English finisher around, he plays at twice the level of Becks and is younger, but I don't see him getting called up.
My point is, Ash, everybody knows what Beckham brings, everybody knows what he does and these games are now of little importance to us. He isn't playing at a high enough level to warrant a call up to the national side, he isn't needed by the national side at the moment and, despite Capello saying he wouldn't call Beckham up if he wasn't in Europe, he is still getting in the side.
I believe we have a wealth of talent waiting in the wings, players who could well prove themselves to be important players at the world cup, but they probably won't get their chance as Beckham gets another 10 minutes for the sake of earning a cap.
Until Beckham is playing in Europe, playing well and proving himself better than the others, then he should be called up, but he isn't playing at that level, he is getting in there on reputation and purely reputation.

Gillett also added that the £30million fee recouped from Xabi Alonso's move to Real Madrid "went straight back" into the club's transfer budget, which was already set at "£22-23m as part of our budgets".
Gillett added: "The club is in extraordinarily good financial condition. Far better than Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal.
"We have invested massively, we have put more money in than anyone other than Manchester City, with the craziness they have got."

I am with Ash on this one, Beckham for me is a very valuable squad player and is definately a strong candidate for the world cup. Of course he needs to sort his move to Milan and play well there like he did last season and I believe he will again.
The point about ther younger players getting a chance I don't really understand. Walcott, SWP and Lennon have all been getting their chances recently and Becks has been on the bench so he has not been stopping their progress.
What they all have is great pace and what they all lack is a final ball. Thei is where in very tight games Beckham could be very useful and could create that one chance that we need to win a game.
If he was on 70 caps I don't think this discussion would go on everytime England are due to play.

I think FIFA are genuniely scared that too many of the big boys won't make it to the Finals this time and will move heaven and earth to make sure they all get there.
France, Portugal, Germany, Czech Republic are just four teams that could well be in the play-off mix-up. Argentina could miss out from South America too, although the comfort factor of a nice cosy play off against a Central American nation is the more likely outcome.
None of the bigger names in the game will ever vote against this because they know, one day, it could be them finishing second.

Which is disgusting.
They've set out the rules of qualification. They should stick with them. If they wanted all the *big countries* to qualify anyway, they should give automatic qualification for these countries and not go through the charade of qualification.
Quote None of the bigger names in the game will ever vote against this because they know, one day, it could be them finishing second.'"
All of the bigger names in the game should vote against this because it's corrupt. If FIFA are willing to do this openly then what are they prepared to do behind closed doors?
