New game on the cards

I seem to get bored on the game really easy this year, not sure why.

Me too. A bit tedious and repetitve.

Getting tonked nearly every game doesn't help. I am Leeds. Promoted to Champ in 1st year finished 10th in second now 19th in 3rd season. Cannot keep a clean sheet at all, conceding early in every game. Went on a run of losing 3-0, 4-0 and 5-0!!! I have 5 training categories on 6 star but its getting worse. Of course I have no funds. Bates was taken over by a "fans" consortium!

maybe it's your tactics? if you're having trouble during matches, check with your assman. he'll point out opposition players who are causing the threats and give you an idea on stopping them

Can you not get Daniel Aquino at QPR?

He's transfer listed at the start for 300k, and he becomes a good player.

in my second season with leeds, promoted throu playoffs. got most of my side playing well (4-3-1-2) apart from my strikers who get 6.5 if im lucky. any tips nothing ive tried seems to be working

Nope, it seems that if your striker isn't producing the goods every game, he gets a rating.

I've had players score over 30 in the league, yet have an average rating of just over 7.

You should be ok with Beckford, he scored 32 goals in the league in my second season. The problem I had at Leeds was finding the best combo out of 6 strikers (keep tom elliot and watch him fly) although what do I know...see earlier post lol

Anyone ever had a ban over turned for a red card?? No matter how many red cards I get in a season, I have never had a ban changed upon appeal!!

Yeah a couple. Not appealed much though. I usually just warn the player sent off.

I'm in my first season as Bradford City in League 2. Sat in 2nd a point behind Port Vale. Listened to the Assistants recommendations of potential signings so brought in a left midfielder.

My strike force is poor. Peter Thorne didn't score a goal for about 15 hours of football and I can't seem to get my tactics spot on. I am playing as a 4-1-2-1-2.

That might change once I clear off the 4 or 5 injuries currently plaguing the squad but for the minute, I'm clinging onto second and promised the board I'd win the league.

I started with Wigan after getting the game today. I signed Zaki and Figueroa on permanant deals and every team in the prem wants heskey.

You can usually get well over £5m for Heskey at the start.

Anyone noticed the amounts of shots that hit the bar/post in FM09? It's so annoying when you miss out on a goal from this

Following on from my last post..

4-4-2 attacking seems to work well with the squad I have. Got a good home run going but away, I suck, can't seem to win away at all.

Got Bradford promoted and told the board I'd achieve a mid table finish in League One. I'm currently 12th and aiming for promotion next season.

I'm going to go 4-1-2-1-2 for my first game Vs Boro. Koumas, Camara and Kilbane have looked good in pre season.

I've done some experimenting on FM and a 4-3-2-1 Works well for me, with 3 Centre Midfielders, the outer 2 staying back and the middle one running forward, and 2 Attacking Wingers who run forward, it cuts thropugh defences rather well. Another formation i've used i've called the Crazy 8, because of the shape, 2 DCs, 2 WBs, 2 MCs, 2 Wingers, 2 Strikers. It worked very well as a slightly more attacking variant of a 4-4-2.

As far as I'm concerned, wing play is the key to FM.

I am currently Valencia and Spain manager, I played a 4-2-3-1 with Valencia, with attacking wingers, and we are now by far the best on the game.

However, with Spain, I decided to play a 4-1-2-1-2, all central players, two centre mids, one holding, on attacking, two strikers, it was garbage and easily stopped, so I changed it to a 4-2-3-1, and I've just beat Holland and Brazil in the confederations cup.

My best players at Valencia have always been my wide/attacking midfielders, Buonanotte, Silva, Ribery, Obertan, Marquinhos and Wilshere have all been quality on the wings, and more often than not make the difference.
