Two awful sides. Two stale clubs. Would have been happy to see either go down but over the moon to see Falcons bottom.

| Good punch up in the Gloucester vs London Irish game. Proper punches and two sent off.
Worth tuning into a highlights programme just to see that.
Might be on the Ytube already.

nah,no RL spot on Talksport
they do give the SL results nowadays on the hour though which is something and since the programme changes on the all night show which is now all sport orientated there is a very brief RL mention of the previous weekends results - nothing to write home about tho' !

Which means they've only one club left north of the Trent. Doesn't this somewhat undermine their claims to be a national game in England?

this ' meeting criteria' problem makes a complete mockery of the P & R system in RU
surely the RFU have to show some flexibility ?

Looks like Newcastle will be in the Premiership after all next year.

If it's the "bundle" you're referring to, there's nothing wrong with a bit of biff.....they have completely sanitised fumbleball in Australia by cracking down of the fisti-cuffs. I see the London Irish coach is fuming....so maybe there's more to it than just punches, but as Tana Umaga once famously remarked to a ref, '"we're not playing tiddlywinks"
If you're talking about the declared attendance.....I agree 100%...very suspect all those 0,000's

| Director of rugby union of the year?
Wigan sign Iain Thornley from Sale Sharks union on three and a half year deal. The centre is an ex-Warriors junior. Rumours have been going round for some time that he was frustrated and, dare I say it, bored in union.

Moving stadium isn't going to miraculously cure all their ills. As I've posted on here before, the Welsh regions have some serious problems but fans and administrators seem more than happy to keep their heads in the sand.
Quote ="Alda"he didn't exactly cut the mustard in union. At the end of the day, a great union player is not necessarily a great league player, and vice versa.'"
You've obviously seen more of him than me. I thought he was doing well at Leeds Carnegie/Tykes and was in line for some first team action at centre at Sale Sharks next year. The fact that Sale Sharks were disappointed he rejected them in favour of a move to rugby league says a lot. The fact that he made the RFU Championshp team of the year says even more.

Too late. Clubs had to submit their grounds to RFU in March (I think) and only Bristol's chosen home venue was deemed suitable for first division rugby union. If Bristol don't overcome the 21 point deficit against the Pirates of Penzance, which I can't see them doing, Newcastle are safe.

| The ground siuation would appear to be much better on the RL Championships. Halifax,Leigh,Featherstone, Sheffield, Gateshead, Doncaster, Rochdale all have SL standard stadia.

Most of the people that I've spoken too that went to the Wigan cup match a few weeks ago said it's an absolute hole.

The RFU don't give a toss financially who goes up or down.......perception wise maybe, but not a jot based on attendances. Newcastle/Pirates....either way, the RFU recive not a brass farthing from eithers attendance or gate money.
It is only us RL fans that fret about such stuff.
