Still seen no proof that all 83,000 paid a fiver or less..........17,000 fans more than all 7 ESL games achieved....
Quote ="dids858"Sure was saw a tweet. "At wembley for the rugby no idea whats going on."

WoW.....a tweet. Must surely mean that all 83,000 had stumbled in by accident......and cetainly shoots holes in the BBC 's claim that they averaged 4,500,000 viewers for each of the 6 nations games....all those people tuned in by accident did they.
The day the RFL attract 83,000 fans for anything is the day your inane attempts at point scoring will carry any weight

Will be interested to see the next gate for a sarries home match....

Shark J, how do you think Kennedy's potential purchase of Rangers soccer club would affect Sale Sharks?
England centre Riki Flutey will quit Wasps at the end of the season to return to his native New Zealand.

Nope.....20,000 tickets at a fiver, the rest started at 15 notes each......if all 63k were 15 each, that's 1,045,000 on the gate.......for 1 game at an average price of 12.60 each....
17,000 less watched the ESL at the weekend...Ian Lenegan reckons each bumb in a seat is worth 9.75 to the club.....so about 400k less income for 7 games.
Gotta lol at RL fans trying to shoot holes in a massive Union crowd
BOT
.....March 31st deadline passed, but maybe they'd already told the RFU and just haven't gone public with the worst kept secret in Rugby.

Not sure who this will prove worse for. Will Salford have their own stadium taken from under them?
Or will Sale be destroyed as Diamond and chums try to ruin the history of the club, and spit on the town's RU heritage, by rebranding them?
The only thing that keeps Sale's identity as anything other than just a suburb of Manchester is its RU team. Might the only winners here prove to be the original Sale FC?

Salford have a lease at the stadium, unless someone buys that out from under them they're going nowhere.
Steve Diamond doesn't need any help to ruin the image of Sale Sharks, he's doing pretty well on his own.

If what I've been told today is true; Gethin Jenkins, Casey Laulala, Dan Parks, Richie Rees, Martyn Williams, John Yapp, Rhys Thomas, Maama Molitika and Deiniol Jones are all on their way out of Cardiff.
Add to that list the news that Ben Blair is in advanced talks with a French club (Agen?) while there are on-going doubts over the futures of Alex Cuthbert, Tom James, Tao Filise, Paul Tito and Ryan Tyrrel. At this rate, the Cardiff Blues will be playing an under 21's side next season. The club is in dire financial trouble and despite the recent six nations success, the future of Welsh rugby union is looking decidedly shaky again.
That call to reassess the Welsh regions and possibly even the Celtic League looks more and more sensible by the week.

Not posted on here for a while (has SaintCJ fecked off?).
On holiday in Cornwall last summer, I was talking to the lad who ran the bar on our site, he was a Pirates fan, said they were all against sharing with Plymouth.
They are in the planning stage for the "Stadium For Cornwall" so a couple of years and, fingers crossed, we see the mennaye lads in the prem, they are my "second" RU team, with Northampton being my preferred side.

That is perfectly fine with me. 17k more people did watch the Union match at Wembley than the Super League round that weekend and that is a statement of fact. As I have said previously, well done to them
What price each of those of 83k paid for their tickets is a matter of conjecture as is whether the whole enterprise was profitable for Saracens or not
The next Saracens home game in the Premiership is on the 5th of May against Exeter and the attendance at this game is a real barometer for the success of Wembley

Wrong.....although it will be interesting to see what they get. If the next attendance was the basis of the event, they wouldn't have had a week gap before the next home game.....
Sarries RU gained more publicity and column inches over this game than they ever could have reasonably paid for......as a PR excercise, it worked 100%. As for profit/loss, that is a matter for the BOD and the Owner of the club and has little bearing on anything......the record books will show the Seasons average crowd at about 19k......not the 6k they normally manage and that is one of the top 4 averages for attendances in UK rugby of either code and ahead of the highest average in the non Union code.
It amazes me that those times I stumble into a Union forum, not one poster gives any other footballing code a second mention, let alone attempts to slag it off....maybe it's a northern thing eh?

| That's ballcocks gf. I used to post on Planet Rugby and posts regarding rugby league, soccer and even Aussie rules were commonplace.
If Planet Rugby is a one off and the other union forums you frequent are indeed that insular, I'd suggest that is a negative. Discussion is healthy and if you have a look around RLFans.com you'll find boards discussing sports such as cricket, darts NFL, soccer and ice hockey. I believe there's even a union board somewhere.

So, let me get this straight
You tell everybody who will listen (and many who haven’t asked) that you are a marketing professional. Saracens invest an enormous amount of time and effort (not to mention money) to fill Wembley stadium and you don’t think that the attendance at the next home game is a measure of the success of this venture. Is marketing just about big events and not sustainable success then? Whenever I sign off marketing spend, I do make a point of asking what the long term benefits will be
As for the timing of the next home game, I’m sure Saracens could have insisted that the FA move the FA Cup semi finals away from Wembley on the 14th and 15th of April so their big Wembley game could be closer to their next home game at Watford, they were probably just being polite as I’m sure that Saracens always have first refusal of Wembley every year
Quote ="gutterfax"It amazes me that those times I stumble into a Union forum, not one poster gives any other footballing code a second mention, let alone attempts to slag it off....maybe it's a northern thing eh?
'"
Just an fyi, if you are wondering why League fans on this thread are talking about Union, it may be because its titled “If you must discuss Union, do it here”. There are many forums and thousands of threads on these boards that are not about Rugby Union

Aye, saffacens nxt home game is the fizzy beer quarterfinal ...Entry for ST holders and their partners, thier friends, and their friends servants tennis partners could be had for as little as £8..Good job the saffacens have wealthy backers....they seem to take in even less money than the newcastle budgies lol.

| Italian side Aironi will pull out of the Pro12 at the end of the season after their licence was revoked.
The Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) made the decision to withdraw the licence on financial grounds. Aironi, who are bottom of the Pro12 , are expected to complete the final three games of the current season. "The federal council has decided unanimously to revoke the licence of Aironi Rugby at the end of the current season," the FIR announced.
Aironi was formed from a group of north eastern clubs and based at Viadana, but have struggled financially in the two seasons since joining the league in 2010 and are reportedly 4 million euros in debt. The FIR are planning to nominate another team for the Pro12 next season, and will have to decide whether to go for a different side in the sport's heartland or re-examine their original plans to have a team based in Rome. Previous plans to base a side in the capital also fell through for financial reasons.

| I've said it so many times it feels like my very own catchphrase, but Aironi are gash. I'm surprised the Italian RU have bailed them out for so long. As for replacing them with another Italian club, I just don't see it working. In my opinion the problems are connected to Italian rugby, not the Aironi entity. Ironically clubs like Viadana, Rovigo and Padova were succesful, well-run clubs who actually turned a profit.
After recent reports and stories regarding the hollowness of the Welsh regions, this is more evidence that this model isn't for everyone.
