His draft stock went down radically after the Saints signed Breesus Christ and it came out that he was about as intelligent as a new born baby when he got 6 out of 50 on his Wonderlic test. Even in his re-test he only got 16.
After that it was doubtful he'd go in the top 5 or 10 and wasn't rated much ahead of Leinart and Cutler.

| The pointless wonderlic test, nearly as pointless as testing how fast a 300+ lineman runs 40 yards. Some of the things they do leading up to a draft are unbelievable. How about looking at game film and talking to the player to find out what kind of a person they are. They to me are more important in drafting a player than finding out how good he is at doing the wonderlic.

The wonderlic is far from pointless. In fact all of the test are relevent in some way. Obviously only Al Davies takes them in isolations and drafts the fastest/strongest/biggest player irrelevant of how good they are or whether they are worth taking in that position.
I'd say the Wonderlic is relevent though. You want a QB (in particular) who is inteligent enough to make a decision/read defences/ audible calls/ handle the media. All of which are linked to inteligence and the Wonderlic test.

The thing is, the things you mention are either intangibles or 'football intelligence'. I reckon there's probably several players out there that are very intelligent in football terms but not the sharpest tool in the drawer when it comes to non-football related matters. They've been brought up on this stuff almost their whole life. Football is their education, not the content of the Wonderlic test.
Obviously there will be correlation between poor test scores and poor players in some instances but I wouldn't completely rule out a player based on them scoring higher than another.
I think too much emphasis is placed on the Combine anyway. It gives little indication as to how a player will perform in pads in a game situation and should act merely as an aid for a team's drafting strategy rather than defining it (which seems to be the case for some teams these days).

Maybe not pointless but way down the list of importance when you are thinking of drafting a player.I think Young showed in the 2nd half of last season how little the test proves how good a QB will be.Dan Marino got 15 in the Wonderlic and it didn't stop him becoming one of the best QB's ever.

According to the link I posted ther has only ever been 1 recorded
"Pat McInally, a graduate of [size=200Harvard University[/size who played wide receiver and punted for the Bengals, is the only football player to record a confirmed perfect score of 50."
But that may explain why ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| Looks like Kurt Warner will retire on friday from the reports on the nfl website.
He is still an amazing player at this stage in his career and he will surely someday make it to the HOF and fully deserve it too ![bow down a014.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//a014.gif)

Indeed, early indications that the division is the 49ers' to lose next year now.

I cant see them going with him TBH and I cant see them having much trouble getting a better Free agent QB if there is one with all those recieving threats they have, although it wouldnt suprise me if Boldin was gone before the season begins.

Im not so sure TBH they are in a similar position QB wise unless they have seen something in Alex Smith which they havent previous years I think they may well draft another QB or try get one in free agency!
I think the Seahawks may well suprise a few people but who knows with that division your Rams may even sneak it with a 7-9/8-8 season ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| What teams do in free agency is going to be hugely influenced by the future of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
If the CBA disappears and restricted free agents become unrestricted there could be a feeding frenzy among those teams with plenty of cap space to play with in 2011, who can afford to pay over the odds in an uncapped year.

The NFC West has been the worst division in the whole of the NFL since I've been watching the sport. There's either been 1 good team or no good teams at all. For the majority of those years the team that wins the division has basically won it by default. ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

Probably true but i always seem to remember like you saying there being 1 good team who usually do quite well in the play-offs: Seattle and more recently Arizona. There will be no good teams at all next year if Warner is retired.
You guys will get 1-4 wins (or 16-0 if you get Clausen ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif) )
49ers are a 0.500 team until they get a good QB
Seahawks are old and injured all the time
Cardinals will be like the 49ers and if they are going with Leinart as QB, somewhere around 0.500.
I think it's realistic that 8-8 wins the West.

The division has provided teams for the NFC Championship game in four of the last eleven seasons - St Louis twice, Seattle and most recently Arizona. IIRC only the NFC East has provided more in that period.

That is quite interesting. I wonder what the record for non-divisional games for the teams would be in recent years. I've only been watching for 6 years now. St. Louis and San Francisco have rated from average to terrible during that time. Other than the last two seasons Arizona have been poor as well and even in the regular season they've been inconsistent in those 2 years, turning it on in the playoffs. Seattle obviously had a good team the year they made the Superbowl but they clearly benefitted from a weak division in the other years they won the division.

| I've got a feeling the Seahawks are going to spend big in free agency if it's an uncapped year. They've got a billionare owner who has got a serious illness who will want to win a superbowl soon.If I had Paul Allens money i'd be throwing money Snyder style to players to try and win some superbowl trophys.

Hopefully we get all of our playes tied up since we won't (and never do) spend big. We focus on the draft and for the most part Ted Thompson has been excellent in the draft. Justin Harrell being an example of being terrible though.
As far as i'm aware our list is pretty extensive:
Nick Collins
Atari Bigby
Tramon Williams
Ryan Pickett
Johny Jolly
Aaron Kampman
I'm pretty sure all of those are (some may be my imagination).
Collins should definately be resigned as should Williams, Jolly and the big Pickett fence.
Bigby i'm indiferent on, he puts in monster hits but he is average in coverage. Aaron Kampman is 100% commitment but Brad Jones looked good at LOLB and Kamp is wasted at OLB. He is a purely 43 DE. I'd tender and trade him if possible but i expect him to walk.
As for Seattle and FA's. Are there that many good ones out there?
Leon Washington and Jerious Norwood are IIRC. I'd love Norwood at GB. Jason Campbell at QB. There are hardly any excellent FA's this year to be fair and i think the status of FA's is affected by no CBA. You need 6 years to be an unrestricted FA rather than the current 3 so Jason Campbell would be a restricted FA, meaning a team would have to give up picks i think.
