| Speaking of Rooney, after reading the article it sounds like he needs to cut down with the smoking as well!

Deary me. Good luck. Will Villa strike lucky again by appointing a crap manager yet still doing well?

| I said it'd be him at the start of the saga to a mate.
Think he could do well there. Villa to finish 5/6/7th every season though.

| Quote ="Robbie Rotten"We could go on all year laughing at the amounts spent on X, Y and Z. But, to be fair to Aquilani, he was just unfortunate to have somebody like Roy come in and dismiss him. He's a fab player and was fab when he played, just a shame he never had faith from either manager. He's worth more than what we paid for him, he'll prove that at Juve (if they can pick themselves up from the embarrassment from last year), and he would have proved it here had he been kept.'"
Not just Roy though, Rafa ignored him too. I honestly don't ever remember him being fab in a Liverpool shirt or getting any plaudits for his performances.

You're saying Martin O'Neill and Houllier are crap managers?
They're not top managers but they are still decent managers with lots of excellent top level experience.

Well, I think MON is an average manager. Houllier, I don't rate, despite his success here.
There has been talk of Villa going the 'director of football' approach. It's a good method and should work if done well, but there's a habit in England of doing it the wrong way, and, if Villa do go that way, they'll probably get it wrong as well.

Whats your take on Hodgson then if MON is an average manager?
personally, I would rate MON over Hodgson by a country mile and then some.

Similarly average, really, although I admire that Roy's more willing to look into foreign markets, whereas MON prefers to buy tried and tested mediocrity.
I don't like English/British managers to be honest, they have been ineptly 'trained', they have poor methods of coaching and sign a lot of players via agent offers - the mess we see in this country on deadline day is quite embarrassing, and it's all caused/dictated by agents, clubs allow it to happen, too. The way English clubs are ran, when you consider the vast sums of money involved, is pretty embarrassing. There are obvious exceptions, like Moyes and Taggart (as British examples), but there are many other managers who strike me as quite clueless, as well as the people who run the clubs.

| Cole, Crouch, Rooney, Terry plus two more with court injunctions.
Maybe the England team should start concentrating on football instead of getting their n*bs wet.

If Rooney turns in top quality performances, do you care if he was rimming grannies the night before?
I absolutely don't care what the Chelsea players get up to outside of football, as long as what they're doing doesn't affect their footballing performance.
I think Rooney will get off over his indiscretions a lot easier than Cole and Terry have, because I think there's a huge "2nd team" support of Manchester United that simply doesn't exist for Chelsea.

After where you've just been, I think you'll be the next to take out an injunction for that very reason.

TBF to Cole, I think he's performed well since news of his affair broke, and that's despite cheating on the "nation's sweetheart" and getting a lot more stick than the others received. Terry's performances were clearly affected when the news broke, and Rooney's haven't been all that good over the past few months.
I mean, why do it with someone who's got a list of Premier League footballers on her CV, and a history of running to the press. Idiot.

Poor players, believe me. I'm not saying Roy is an all-out foreign player lover, just that MON seems against signing players from abroad. I think at Villa, only Carew and Salifou were his non-British based signings, whilst it's a similar figure at Celtic.
Roy likes old average players, they're easy to coach and they suit his coaching style well, but he at least tries to delve into foreign markets.

At least Hodgson didn't sign Heskey. And make him the highest paid player at the club. Now that [iwould[/i be stupid.

For any of the United fans who didn't see Bebe for Portugal today, here's a pretty decent view of him: twitter.com/karlsentk
Just nosey through his 'tweets' 'til you find him talking about the Portugal game. He sounds like what I thought, lots of natural physical talent, but little brains/sharpened ability.
Couple of tweets about Everton's new Portuguese signing there as well, sounds alright.

I don't think Arsenal fans will be happy, but it's absolutely different. Vermaelen is trying to explain a situation and explain that, even though it will be impossible to 'put aside', things have moved on. The Barca scum were publicly persuading him, ridiculing Arsenal in the process.
