Pitch inspector has already been and looked...said it was one of the best pitches he'd ever seen apparently!!
Funny how quickly the pitch inspector was there for us though when it took a press complaint to get him up to Edgbaston and for Warwickshire to be deducted points the other week...the ECB plot to stop us winning the title continues ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| Worrying late developments at Old Trafford, hope for some Collingwood grit tomorrow.
England bowling well in the ODI, but Sri Lanka's batting has been pretty pathetic.

Why, what's happening at Old Trafford??...Builders gone on strike or something??....
Now, if you mean what's happening at Aigburth, then let's hope Colly shows some of that Ashes winning form from this winter... ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

I still dont know how Pyrah gets so many wickets... I played against him as a junior (albeit he was a few years younger than me), and he had a 60 yard run up to bowl nothing more than medium pace even at junior level. Somebody must have worked with him somewhere on that as he is becoming more of a bowler than a batter, which was the total opposite as a kid.
P*ssed with Andrew Gale too, backed him for top batsman last week when he was stumped second ball for 2. Learnt a lesson, left him alone yesterday and he bangs in 60 odd. ![Shoot Poster a026.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//a026.gif)

I had a look at the wicket on Tuesday dinner. Not a mark on it. Apparently it was just the conditions on Monday - muggy as hell.

| Spare a thought for poor Alviro Petersen - the proud owner of a King Pair in the Derbyshire-Glamorgan match this week. Now that's a real rarity.

It's a pity he didn't collect that in the Surrey v Glamorgan match, instead of his double century.

| Lancs probably happier after the opening day of the Roses game at Headingley, forecasts for the next few games seemed mixed so it's hard to know how much play we're going to get.
Hopefully Jacques Rudolph will be able to pick up from where he left off.

| A good first day for Lancs, helped by some 20/20 style batting from the Sarj at the end of the day! Sounded like the pitch is doing a bit but isn't too bad if you apply yourself. Bat for another hour this morning, get up to 350ish then skittle them later today would be very nice! Anyone going to any of the days at all? I'm tempted by Saturday but depends on a) state of the game and b) weather forecasts

| Great recovery from Yorkshire....Given themselves a fighting chance.
Bizarre though that Bresnan is allowed to come in for a guy who bowled in Lancs' innings.....Rules are a farce.

And now he's taken two quick wickets in the second innings as Lancs slump to 3/2 !

I booked the day off ages ago so I could go tomorrow, but now I can't - hopefully there will be something worth watching on Saturday, though I'm not sure how likely that is.
Decent recovery from Yorks this afternoon, but I think the damage is done.

I think it's been in place for a while now. Regardless of the teams involved or relative ability of the two players changing places, there has to be a clear potential advantage in one side being able to use a fresh fast bowler who hasn't played for several days in the second innings of a match. .
At least these are like-for-like replacements. Taking the issue a step further, there is surely scope for one team to alter the balance of their side midway though a match by bringing in someone more likely to make an impact on days 3 & 4, i.e. an extra spinner?
Lancs 122 ahead with three second innings wickets down. That looks pretty finely balanced to me.

Tomorrow's the only day I can make, so it'll be interesting to see how much play there is to see.

I think "control" is going a bit OTT!!
Fancy Lancs if they get anything more than a 200 lead, given our fragile batting and tendency to crumble they probably won't even need that.

| What is it about Headingley and July 21st?
Thirty years to the day since the end of that remarkable Ashes Test of 1981, Rich Pyrah and Ryan Sidebottom magically transform into Ian Botham and Graham Dilley.
Now, who is going to step forward and be Yorkshire's equivalent of Bob Willis?
Lancs effectively 152-5 and crawling along at less than two an over. No rain forecast though, so the game should produce a positive result.
