The problem with Flintoff playing for Lancs is that he is always on the comeback from an injury, therefore Lancs are basically playing someone who isn't 100% fit. Can make a big difference in a 4 day game.

The statue seems to portray Dickie laughing as he raises a finger to dismiss a batsman. I'm sure he never did that - his raised finger was generally accompanied by a slight pause, an apologetic frown, and (lip-reading) a comment of "that's out" as if to emphasise he had no option and didn't really want to send the man on his way.
