| Am on Nathaniel 3/1
Beaten by a head Treasure Beach who then came 2nd in the Derby plus Slumber and Pisco Sour haven't done the form any harm today.
4.25
World Heritage 40/1 EW (4 Places) and 20/1 EW (3 Places) - Without Green Destiny
World Heritage was a Group horse with Pascal Bary is France with its best form being in 2009 running to a mark of 114 while going down by less then a length in three Group races to the likes of Cirrus Des Aigles, Debussy and Caremont all on good to soft ground, ran 3 times last year with its best showing a 3 length defeat behind Stacelita in a Group 3, its clearly not the force it was now with Robert Eddery but its run here wasn't that bad, plus both runs have been a good to firm ground which would of been the fastest its had to face, tomorrow it will get the ground its performed well on and is also 9lbs lower then when it arrive at Eddery's yard after just 2 runs.

2:30 - Illaunglass - J Noseda's filly is a monster as won on debut at lingfield a few weeks ago having been given as info. She flashed her tail on that day and hopefully she's more street wise and is worth a play.
3:05 - Mirhaaj - Varians horses have been performing well this year and even though this one is relatively inexpierenced, will stay this distance however and he's been pleasing connections at home with some decent work.
3:45 - Theyskens Theory - Ran well last year without hitting the top of the tree, did however defeat subsequent 1000gns heroine Blue Bunting on the Godolphin's filly's debut. Won easily enough at York at listed event.. needs a step up here but hopefully will improve for being a 3yr old and progressing well after seasonal reappearance which usually Meehan's horses do.
4:25 - I do like Green Destiny however for me the price looks on the shortside... so I'd rather fare with Shamali who has a v good record here of 1,1,2 the two wins coming over this distance and that 2nd came 6l behind Alainmaar over 2fl further, I rate Alainmaar very highly and the Varian horse will progress throughout the season... either way Shamali can run a decent race at a decent price.
5:00 - Who knows... I was taken by Halifax's run last time out and this step up in trip can gauge further improvement in one of 3 mark johnstons horses.
5:35 - Ip Dip Do .... Lowther ran well at chester last time from a wide draw at big price may well sneak into places.
Two to watch out for in the betting is imo 7:05 Newm - Elite - SMS 2nd 2yr old of the year the first one and only those very forward run this time of the year (still early for sms best to be out) 8:40 Newm - Raahin was the subject of many a good word last year and looked well on debut having a considerate ride and can progress this year.
Good Luck everyone...

| Varian camp apparently think Mijhaar is the real deal.
Nathaniel seems a bit lively, gonna back Mijhaar - Varian has said he will not run him on fast ground and needs the step up in trip (from last time), so in short probably wouldn't be running him today unless they thought he would go near.

| Had a couple of quid each way on the 2nd there. Think I'll back it for the St Leger as well. Was staying on superbly and had it travelled better earlier in the race would have pushed Nathaniel close.

| Just seen elsewhere that Nathaniel is from a family known for getting warm before race and it not making a difference. Oh bugger, wish I hadn't seen it as a negative and decided to look elsewhere.
Theyskens Theory ran like an absolute dog.

Awful wasn't it, Martin Dwyer was so confident before hand too. Went off too quick on the ground, Memory came out and just took a big pull.
I didn't see Nathaniel getting worked up before hand as a negative, just a bit on his toes but he settled well. I think he get warm like that last time too.

| Just thought if he was getting worked up in such soft conditions, and the Varian one might swoop late but never happened.
Will Green Destiny be a bookies nightmare or a bookies benefit?
I'm not playing, gonna plug more on Await The Dawn instead.

| Hills gave Green Destiny a dog of a ride there. Horrible jockey to have onboard, both of them are awful jockeys. They must lose on more well fancied horses than anyone else. Never got him settled, left him out the back 10 lengths plus behind the leader and then when he goes for it he puts him on the rail and completely stuck. Awful.

| Last bet before my holidays on Sunday will be Await The Dawn. Going on quite big. Won his last race in very striking fashion.
What price Namibian will now be in Godolphin blue next year?

| Backed Overturn in the last tomorrow 5/1.
Won't run if its too soft but if its got enough left in the tank it wins this from the front.

| Hoping it doesn't get too soft for Await The Dawn. He won his debut on soft/heavy ground but that race doesn't appear to have amounted to much, and is going up to 12f for the first time. Don't think that would be a problem unless it becomes a real slog, as Drunken Sailor bounced back to form last time and is at home on soft ground, and the softer the better for Poet who will probably try and force things from the front.
Laaheb should also be fine on the ground, as should Harris Tweed and maybe Kings Gambit. Rest of them either untried or poor efforts when soft has been in description. According to RP spotlight, Campanologist acts on soft yet looking through his form on Sporting Life the word soft doesn't appear in the going description of races he has won/placed. They don't have German races and just seen on Racing Post form he won a race in Germany on soft, didn't seem a very good one and the rare occasions he has raced on soft ground in the UK has been well beaten.
ATD looks set to go off at more cramped odds than Harbinger last year, who probably had a better level of form. Having said that, last years renewal was probably stronger considering the ground was suitable for more of the horses.
Saturdays picks:
Nightmare to try and pick a winner as who knows what will handle the ground the best, I'll plump for Polydamos E/W. Has ran on softish ground and should have more to give.
Await The Dawn, (see what I've wrote at the top of the post) or if you don't trust the favourites on this dodgy ground Laaheb E/W at a fairly big price.
Bewitched - will love the ground and is a battling performer, with luck in running should definitely be there late on/
Nasri - E/W. Big field here and won't be much in it but wouldn't be surprising to see sprint king Dandy Nicholls get the best out of him.
Modun - apparently a group performer in the making (as was Apache yesterday...) but Sir Michael is a lot less flashy with his entries and unless he thought a lot of the horse he wouldn't be in for the Irish Leger etc. If he handles the ground, should win.
Elyadi - runs off a light weight and will definitely stay the trip, had a prep run over hurdles so should be fit enough. Overturn might not be fully effective over this marathon on soft ground.

| 5.00 Taqleed 8/1 EW
Gets soft ground it wants tomorrow, takes awhile to ready so will have needed that first run, it ran to 103 off 95 last year it is now on 94 and has had the winter to get stronger
Heddwyn 14/1 EW
Can't not back this with the formlines it has, its second run was 2nd to London Stripe with Power Series back in 3rd both ended up with good form to Dandino last year, Heddwyn's last run in 2010 was coming 3rd beind Green Destiny on heavy ground who of course was expected to hack up today, Agony And Ecstasy was 2nd in that and in its next two races was 2nd in a Listed race in France and then won a Class 1 Listed race here on AW, Heddwyn has come back on AW for its first run of the year with a close 2nd ahead of Point North.
