Nike? be interesting to see a swoosh in defence.
Who said anything about great players? I was on about are defence being good ie not letting goals in.

| I take it the Liverpool fans who wanted "The King" back decided to completely ignore his last two managerial efforts - over ten years ago?
It's like watching a bunch of deluded Newcastle fans wanting Keegan back.

2nd with Newcastle and an FA Cup final plus a Cup with Celtic wasn't it?

er, in current terms he took Keegan's team to 2nd then 13th - brought in huge successes like stefan guivarch, and jon dahl tomasson, wibbled and cleared off
and came 2nd in the 2 horse race that is the SPL and introduced the dream managerial team of Dalglish and Barnes, then wibbled and cleared off.
As i said weeks ago, and i could well be wrong, i think he'll be wibbling within weeks.
short tenures at Blackburn, Newcaste and Celtic, no lasting legacy of success, and most outsiders think he precided over the beginning of the end of the great liverpool era.

| He didn't want to be at those places though, as soon as he left Liverpool he wanted to come back.
Trying to talk down things he did with other clubs as nothing is small time and stinks of people without football brains an only see want they want.
As for wibbling or wibbled if it goes tits up at Liverpool he will take the blame and hide behind nobody.
Its funny though 5 days into the job and people can't wait to stick the knife in what a shock that is.

Nerve touched duly noted.
Jesus, not the "bet you can't do any better" bollox - probably the worst comeback ever when discussing football. If I was as bad as "The King" was in my job when he left his last two clubs I wouldn't be in one.
Yep took Newcastle from 2nd to 13th playing defensive bollox and "took" Celtic 2nd in a two horse race - genius.
We want King Kev back! Sorry, we want The King back.

Tbf though he did an appauling job at Newcastle. Though he did finish 2nd with them in 1997, they were already in the top 4 (if not 2nd) when he took over in January. He then (in summer 97) sold - David Ginola, Les Ferdinand, Peter Beardsley, Tino Asprilla (in Jan 9icon_cool.gif, replacing them with the likes of John Barnes (years past his peak), Ian Rush (years past his peak) etc, finished 13th in his first full season and was sacked only 18 months (approx) after taking over.
So, whilst he has been a great manager, he was the guy who dismanted a fantastic Newcastle team and created one which in all honesty was very poor.

or you can put the positive spin on what he did elsewhere as you have, glass half full / glass half full etc, i don't think you'll find there is anything i said there that is untrue
the guy undoubtedly loves liverpool, and as i have said all along utterly brilliant player, fair play to him putting his hand up, I think think he had a part in the problems of this season - rightly or wrongly opposing Hodgson's appointment in the first place can't have done Hodgson any favours with the players or fans.
As for taking jobs he didn't want - what do you want anyone to say to that?

Mate he's undoubtedly a legend, but the harsh reality is he's not done anything major in football since 1995 with Blackburn, don't see how that can be denied.

| Liverpool haven't got the heart for Premier League football. Too many foreigners, too few with any spirit. If they had suffered a bad injury list this season they would not have had the heart for a relegation battle.
So many of them play the game with an 'oh it's so cold' eternal victim mentality. They a pish poor. If Everton had a striker of real quality we'd have been all over Liverpool's league position this season rather than sitting next to them whilst laughing at their decline.
On the flip side of the footballing coin I watched Mr Messi score a hat trick tonight. What do people reckon about him being the most talented footballer ever, already? He's only 23 and is just incredible.

So what your saying is that a managers track record should not be discussed? Kenny stunk the place out at Newcastle and presided over a truly terrible season at Celtic. Wasn't that the 'Super-Caley-Go-Ballistic-Celtic-Are-Atrocious' season? Kenny should be judged on what's he done in the past and not on some nostalgic dream that the Liverpool fans have. Kenny might well turn your lot around but he's not exactly made a great start has he? Until he proves himself again there will be a large cloud hanging over his appointment to all but those with scouse specs on.

Difference being, we didn't actually [iwant[/i Keegan back but ended up getting giddy when he did. And we certainly weren't singing for his return like Liverpool fans have this season.

| If a Liverpool fan were to apportion blame for Liverpool's dramatic, incredible, astonishing fall from being European Champions to being done up like a kipper by Blackpool twice, what percentage would go to Rafa Benitez and what to Woy Hodgson? Where is the milk in your bottle?
