Another poll appears on here without being thought through. I refuse to vote due to the fact that Hampson is not on the list (or jim Sullivan). Radlinski readilly admits he learned everything about being a fullback from Hampson, and to name Wellens in the same poll under the title of the thread is utterly disgusting and thoughtless.

My dad said the same. He was most enthusiastic about Jim Sullivan, though.

Radz? Cherry and White tinted specs.
Couldn't break wind or create much. Simply a fast player with good positional skills and a good tackle.
Not got the same 'it' factor as Slater, Hayne or even Boyd.

Today the FBs are better than ever. Used as an attacking weapon with ball handling skills excellent defense and a great support player. Many past FBs are no where near as good due to how the position has evolved.

I think there are some Cherry & White tinted glasses being worn on this poll/thread. Sam has the potential to be the best but IMO the following are all equal or better fullbacks than him at the moment:

some sanity in all of this at last..Steve Hampson has clearly been Wigans best full back in the modern era. Hampson to me only lacked real pace but he was top notch at every thing else. He could catch an STD in a convent.

I am not a fan of Melbourne Storm, or Billy Slater, but he is clearly the best in the world right now and one of the best ever.

This poll between Billy Slater and Kris Radlisnksi can only be bettered by having a poll of best ever centres and sticking Steve Renouf, Gene Miles, Mal Meninga(for the Saints Angle) and then George Carmont......and having people believe Thomas Leuluia that Carmont is the best ever........

Slater, Boyd and Hayne are streets ahead of Sam at the moment as full backs. Hayne as a half too probably.
Dugan is another great kid, if he doesn't get ruined by injuries he'll probably be the one to take the #1 from Slater in a few years.
I can't agree that Gardner or Coote are as good as Sam at the moment, they have far less to their games overall than Sam - Coote is a fantastic kick chaser and Gardner's running game is fantastic but all-round I don't think either of those come near to Sam yet.

Not even to mention Hampson (even as an outsider, looking in), when Radlinski and Tomkins are there, is sacrilage.

Hampson was fantastic (damn him)

Steve Hampson was without doubt a brilliant fullback but for me Radlinski edges him..just.
Both brilliant in defence and under the high ball( exceptional in Hampson's case) but Radlinski was the better in attack and support play.

Billy Slater is the best full back in the world, probably ever. A few weeks ago I posted that Tomkins was so far behind, becuse he tried to do everthing himelf. However, over the lat 3 weeks, Sam has really shown that he is a try maker not just with kicks, but now through his hands.
Despite my belief that Billy is the best in the world, given the choice over the next 4 years of Slater or Tomkins, I would pick Sam. Billy is at his peek, but if Sam continues his development, he has the potential to eclipse Billy and in the not too distant future.

Wellens & Webb... seriously?

they were part of the original argument back in 2009 that i got brought into on facebook along with Slater & Rads, Sam was added yesterday after somebody mentioned him, all the other fullbacks mentioned in posts had nothing to do with that argui=ment hence their names not being on the poll

Has anybody read Rad's book ?, look what he says about Wellens....." it's an honour to be compared to him, he's a wonderful player ", now you may say, 'well he would say that' but thats not true, he didn't need to even mention him, Wellens has been a good, solid, reliable fullback, a lack of pace is the only drawback to his game, there are, and have been, lots of far worse players in SL than Wellens.

I'd Say Billy Slater !! Always in the right place at the right time !! Brilliant Player !!

By simply comparing Radz to Slater backs up that he's one of the most overrated players we've had.
People are comparing him to arguably the best FB ever! He had the basics, could catch, was quick and could tackle, nothing more. Hardly ever saw him break a tackle.

i can't believe that any player other than Billy Slater received any votes in this poll.
