Rather long post I know. Sorry
Wigan’s Future
Fullback -- No matter what anyone says, we need a full qualified person in that position, with the in-built knowledge,
Phelps and
Richards, can cover the role well, but won’t perform week in week out in that role, were as someone who plays that position will.
I.e.
Briscoe
Wingers -- If no Full-back signed
Roberts instead of
Richards but,
Richards and
Ainscough for me, Richards is no were need their standard at the minute, I know.. But rather have two Ireland and GB players then a high paid Aussie.
Centres --
Glesson definitely a player who’ll always be playing.
Carmont to take up his option of a one year extension, while Pryce is out on loan, gaining the necessary fitness and experience to take the helm off Carmont, making
Pryce and
Ainscough, possible GB future!! (high hopes I know)
Half Back -- Need an experienced head, I feel the current 6 & 7 are to young and inexperienced,
Matt Orford as to be introduced to the Wigan squad, he’d develop both
T. Smith and S. Tomkins game so much!
Tim Smith will stay, he’s got a huge talent and everyone was on his back, straight away. Time will show with this guy!
Scrum Half --
S. Tomkins to start whilst
Tommy Leuluai starts on the bench (sort of St Helens Roby injection).
Props --
Coley is starting to play really well, tackle busting and offloading at the right times, work horse in defence, not been giving many penalties away, really good at the minute, and I think end of the 2009 season, he should gain the Wigan captaincy.
Fielden, what can we say, hasn’t been the same for a very long time, legs seem to go before he hit’s the tackle, but he made a few good runs against Celtic. Maybe drop him, give a reason to buck up!?! Play a youngest in his place. But he needs replacing… Who with probably no-one anyone as mentioned on here lol
People talk rather highly of
Feka, but is that because we have nothing to compare him too?? The length of time he plays, isn’t enough in my opinion. Instead of standing 3-4metres from the play of the ball Feka, stand back as if your going to take a drop goal, then set off and let the pins fly!! Like a bowling ball every time, no good being stood still when you get the ball, has no acceleration at all.
Prescott and O’Carroll great talent between them, World Cup did O’Carroll the world of good and hope they stay at Wigan for they career!!
Hooker --
Riddell won’t go anywhere so we just have to hope he continues to raise his game.
Leuluai is far more effective at hooker than
McIlorum. I think we need to loan McIlorum out. He hasn't made a break, tackle bust, try ,try assist or anything all season. He really adds very little at the moment.
Second Row --
Hock, always there, always will be, superb in attack, bit penalty fond in defence, but name a nice, clean and friendly second rower!!
How
Hansen, he raises a few ??? with me, yes very good in defence, but no attack what’s so ever, so ‘d I’d take the risk get rid,
Mossop and J. Tomkins would take his role easily, and with the talent on show in the academy we’d have no problems in that position.
Bailey, to go, sorry but I feel he’ll be gone at the end of 2009. But I'd move Locker’s to this position, plays better in it.
Loose Forward --
Locker’s to second row and a new face to be introduced….
Nathan Hindmarsh??!!
To go at the end of the 2009 season
Bailey
Phelps

End of 2010 season
Fielden, Hansen to go, replacements of high quality, easy with the wages we could give out, also
Carmont to go after he’s finished his contact and
K. Pryce to step in (hopefully). Also, my personal opinion,
Roberts to go, with Ainscough filling Richards position and Richards taking Roberts position.
