| I see it more that wigan are getting two young players some SL experience. they are more or less guaranteed to play considering Salford's squad problems of late especially further to the two bans we heard of yesterday.
salford were struggling to get a team on the sheet before the loans were agreed so I don't really see it too much of a threat "helping" them out by loaning them two of our players. it can only benefit the two lads in the long run and surely wigan will reap the rewards in the long term too as I can't see them being allowed to play against us (not sure if we have a fixture with them before the loan runs out?)
good business by both clubs if you ask me.

| Gildart is a fantastically talented prospect but, as we have already seen, may not be ready physically for Super League. Would they be looking to play him somewhere other than centre. He played at full back, a fair bit, in the U19s, because of injuries.

| Young Gildart didn't look ready for the Championship when he played for Workington last week at Halifax. He needs to work on his defence. With ball in hand he looks okay but his defence is his weakness.

Greenwood subbed after 4 min, I don't think he came back, I think Gildart did the full match.
Salford 20, Cas 22.

| Greenwood played most of the game because Salford were reduced to one player on the interchange bench.
Considering that players like Locke started on the wing then had to move to six then on to nine and George Griffin, who has been playing prop at Wakefield for the last month,Started at severn then had to move to centre it must not have been easy for the two lads but they let nobody down and are a credit to the Wigan academy setup

| The match report on Sky praises Gildart saying he was impressive and made some good runs.
It'll be a really worthwhile spell this for him. With Burgess going at the end of the year he may get some games on the wing and possibly centre if they need to mix things up.

Sorry JJ my phone info must be cr#p.
I have an app on my phone "love rugby league" which I use because I find it simple and at my age it has to be simple.
I checked it about 5pm tonight and it said Greenwood was subbed after 4min by Morley with no mention after that he came back.
So I stand corrected.

| Greenwood ran the ball in all day long, didn’t make many yards but worked hard. Gildart made the better impression of the two, making a couple of fantastic breaks with his second one resulting in a try for Kevin Locke. He has a deceptive turn of pace and went round his opposition centre/winger with ease. Certainly looks a good prospect.

He's always been good in attack, it's his defence that still isn't up to SL standard. Great prospect, though, I agree.

| Good stats from him on the superleague site.
0 missed tackles and 10 carries for 174 metres!
Good starting point for him. Looking at Salfords issues for Friday Gildart Snr might get an emergency deal.

| I was at the game yesterday and Gildart showed up really well. He made a couple of telling breaks, his second leading to Kevin Locke's try. His first break was much better though and he busted a couple of tackles in the process. He did however look suspect in defence, particularly in the first half; he doesn't appear to have much problem tackling when people run to him but he was out of position a couple of times leading to Cas overlaps. This of course can be attributed to slotting into a new side but there's definitely a bit of work to be done there.
Greenwood was fairly anonymous and I didn't really notice him in attack, when he did carry the ball he didn't seem to make many yards. He did put a good shift in defence though, it will be interesting to see how many tackles he made but it was probably 25+.

| Gildart's statistics are really quite remarkable. I only ever look at the match statistics briefly, but I can't remember anyone ever doing better per average carry, not even Gelling in his better games where he has exceeded 200 metres ( but with approximately 20 carries, so only an average of 10 - 12 metres per carry). To average over 17 metres per carry ( 174 in 10 carries) is truly outstanding and bodes well for the future. He is obviously still a work in progress, but as he bulks up naturally and gets stronger and thus better defensively, he should become an excellent and very valuable Wigan player.

I saw one of his runs on superleague fulltime last night and it was outstanding. He did the winger for pace on the outside and bust through two cover defenders before being hunted down by Milner (although if he'd have backed his pace he may have got there).
His run from a kick to set up a Locke try was also very impressive. He can certainly attack!

It had a bit of everything. Good pace, footwork and strength.
Very good signs from a kid who must have had some nerves with it being his debut at first team level.

| A try for Greenwood also.
On the highlights last night it did look like Gildart had a tougher night in defence this week which is obviously his weak area. It'll come though as he gets older and more experienced.
