| He took a fair bit of stick at the start of the season but I knew he would come good just needed time to show us his true quality, well played Mark.

| Looks like his fitness is improving, he looked well up for it tonight. Hope he keeps improving and gets back to the NRL form he showed.
I can't believe some people were so quick to write him off

| If he continues in the way he played tonight then we will have made a good signing here. From the first few games i was not impressed with him, but that may have been because he was carrying an injury (apparently). However tonight he looked like he wanted to play, and some of the runs he made were brilliant.

| Come on guys who called him rotten over the last few weeks?
No overseas player settles in overnight and every Wigan fan should have learned their lesson via the way Pat Richards settled in for us over a long period of time.
A superb showing tonight from the Pig!

I can't believe you are spouting this "settling in" rubbish yet again. It is complete nonsense for a player of his age and experience.
The fact he has apparently had a good game is great but it is about time. If he has been injured fair enough that is a good excuse but please give up on this he hasn't settled in rubbish. Pat Richards is no example.
Did you ever see McCormack play? He didn't need any of this settling in in time. If Riddell was injured that was a problem and it wasn't fair to play him. If not, no excuse.

Of course it takes time to settle in.
He's playing in a completely different competition in completely different country.

Craig Smith is an example of a player that took time settle , and Mark Riddell has improved with each game, i was impressed with his decision makeing which was very positive instead of being caught in two minds and leading to errors .

| As i posted during the week, he needs time, and the dropping of Smith seems to have given a few players a kick up the backside.
Great performance from him and shows what he is capable of. I just hope this is the sign of things to come!

| Piggy played well last night. As many have said it was a matter of when he settled he would come good not not will he come good. He lead us around the pitch like a good hooker should. We have not had this since Newton. People have missed out on his defense. I thought he looked good in that department. He showed glimpses of how good he is at Quins and carried on last night. Lets hope he continues to get better week-by-week.
How long before we get a chant of 'feed the pig and he will score?'

How is pat richards no example? it took him a year too settle in
You've been shown up tonight dave after all the stick you've given him, and if you had actually gone to the game you wouldnt even have posted this.

Only reason why Dave is giving him stick is because he's still crying about his love child being at Warrington.

The guy needs to settle into a whole new enviroment but besides that and the biggest one to deal with is the fact he has to settle into a new side and get to know new players. Building an understanding with new players doesn't just happen overnight so of course you need time to settle.

Anyone think missing Smith being involved in the plays might have made us play more expansive (and more inportantly as a team)?
Smith did seem to have a hand in all our plays when he played and afterall, a halfback controls a game. I cant help thinking its to much of a coincidence that Smith is dropped and we start playing like a whole different team.

| Much better performance from Mark Riddell and so it should have been. Played very well, took the line and offered us something different from dummy half. For the first time this season we looked weaker when he was off the field. (That is no disrespect to McIlorum).
Although I will say the criticism he received in his first few games for the club was fully justified and I've no doubt he has won over some of his critics after last nights performance.
Keep it up Piggy.

| Tonight he wasn't actually that good, just decent. But showed what he could be capable of when he's fit.
As I've been saying over the last few weeks you have to factor things like the sudden increase in ruck speed over here; the months he missed the game for; and finally his general fitness is hard to improve.

I really miss you at Wigan Mickey! Good luck today against Leeds!
PS
If that was Just decent then I will reassess Mickey's performances over 3 years to 1/2 dozen "Half Decent" games and 50 Poor & 50 Awful ones!

Its ironic that the poster you quoted was one of Higham's most outspoken critics.
Riddell was excellent last night.
On the subject of settling in, anyone who doesn't think it takes time, it clinging to some kind of Mickey Higham flavoured straw.
