| Quote ="Madderzahatter"Well, it appears that there are many out there that are quite willing to put up with the mediocre performances served up by the team for a large part of the year, the boring rugby and the ridiculous situation IL has created by not coming out and saying what's happening with Noble's contract.
I've been a Wigan fan for 29 years and will continue to be for years to come. But, i can safely say that this is the first time that i've had the feeling that i can't be bothered and that the club is seriously lacking drive and ambition (l'd say even Warrington have shown more than us in recent years). I certainly don't want to face the prospect of yet another season of treading the water and 60% effort from the players until it's too late...
Oh, and a couple of other things:
Who is recruiting 'new' players - Noble or IL? If IL is going to get rid of Noble then he's probably the one who has been doing all the negotiations - do we really want our owner choosing who should/shouldn't be signed?
I can't believe that IL is waiting to see if Noble gets us to the final or indeed wins it, because there's no chance of that happening. We'll have to play far too many games and, inevitably, we'll run out of steam.'"
Despite all the mediocre performances for a large part of the season, we have still managed to finish within touching distance of the top 4. We would of even manged to finish in the top four if it werent for the silly losses against Wakey and Cas at home and Celtic away. This year has been a far better year IMO than last year and were still in with a chance of reaching the GF and reached a semi final of the CC.
This season isn't over yet and we can still make it to Old Trafford. Any news of a new coach isn't going to be announced until the season is over and people need to realise this and stop ting themselves because nothing has been said and because Wire have made 3 new signings

The views I've highlighted here are exactly the same as those given by people who, like me, think IL would be right to replace Noble. So I'm guessing we're on the same page there. But as for "the ridiculous situation" - it's only ridiculous if the current coach and players don't know what's happening. As they almost certainly do, that only leaves the press and us fans - neither of whom are so vital a part of the in-house machinary at Wigan that they have a right to be copied in on potentially sensitive and awkward information. If fans are so hurt by this that they decide not to renew season tickets etc, then I'd question if they're really fans.
Lastly, you're right not to believe that IL is waiting to see if Noble will get us to the GF before offering him another contract, because, frankly, only an idiot would believe that.

Then why doesn't IL come out and say what's going on? I don't see how it's either sensitive or awkward. Thank Noble for his efforts over the past few years and ask the fans to get behind the team and let them know the wheels are in motion.

| Suppose the "new coach" has not handed in his notice yet.
If IL announced to all and sundry what is happening, the press would have a field day and IMO it would be a major distraction for the club.
Once Wigan are eliminated from the play off / or have won it an announcement will be made. Just be patient, there is nothing to be gained from making an announcement now.

I do agree with you on that Rogues, however surely Noble wouldn't be prepared to wait until possibly the end of October just to hear that he'll be leaving.
Whether or not Lenegan wants to let slip what is going on, sooner or later Noble is going to want an answer, and I would guess he's going to want it rather soon.
There in lies the problem we may not want it to be known until the end of the season but who ever snaps up Noble won't want to keep his signing quiet regardless of what we want.
Whether then Lenegan comes out soon after and tells all, or keeps stum till the bitter end we'll have to see.

I think Noble already knows, but as I have said IMO there is no advantage to either party in making a disclosure yet.

You may well be right in saying he knows, but if so he'll be on the lookout for a new club and I very much doubt he'll keep his mouth shut until the end of the season. After all the only way he'll get another job is by letting those clubs who may be on the lookout for a new coach aware that he's available, even if he only does that on a very limited need to know basis it will get out.
I don't see how it can be kept secret for to much longer, two parties are involved in this now, the new guy coming in how does he keep it quiet he may need to get a release from his contract forcing him to let his club know. And then Noble who'l want to get his future secured as soon as possible just like the rest of us would.

You don't see how it's sensitive or awkward ????
You don't know what's going on, so you're not in a position to make any such pronouncement.
But here are a couple of possible reasons.
If we're talking to a new guy - which we almost certainly are (or if we've already signed him) - he won't necessarily want his current employers to know that he's planning to come to Wigan when there are still matches to play. Likewise (if we're still negotiating with him), Wigan might not want to tip the rest of the world off that such-and-such a coach is available. Rival offers may not come in from the UK at this late stage, but you know what the Aussies are like for putting pressure on quality people to stay in the NRL.
There's also the Noble factor. If he hasn't got a job yet, it could be very embarrassing for him - and highly disruptive to our play-off hopes - if Wigan suddenly announced who the head-coach was going to be next year and Noble was forced to admit to the press that he's going to be out in the cold.

| Noble SHOULD know if he's going to be around next year. If he gets binned at the end of the season I believe that would be a really shiitty way to deal with it. If he's staying, they should tell us now, so I assume that the silence means he's on the way out. Nobody has a right to keep a job, even if they win silverware, but dragging it out like this leaves me feeling very uneasy. Credible reputations are hard to build up, but easy to ruin.

I think everyone who needs to know will know whats happening. If a new coach is coming its best all round if things are announced at the end of the season and thats after the Grand Final on both sides of the world.

How do you know that Noble does not know where he is going. He may well be the one who has instigated this. The truth is... We don't know the truth..

Always makes me laugh with Rugby League players that!
The guy is playing for a club thats an hour and a half away from his hometown and he's homesick. In football you have guys playing 10,000 miles away from home and you hardly ever hear rumours of homesickness yet in League guys long for the green green grass of Home as soon as they get more then a 15minute drive away.
Holidays must be a drag when your a RugbyLeague player.
