| Quote ="sgtwilko"This is great post! Totally void of any real facts but constructed in such a way that you think it comes from a position of knowledge.
The facts are image rights and tax brakes are available to sports stars! The HMRC don't want rugby league to have the same tax brakes for image rights as other sports including union? Leeds are the test case as they have a bunch of employees who play both codes right? Who get their pay packet from the same account, but one set of blokes get tax brakes? HMRC are saying the other blokes (the rhinos)don't deserve them! HMRC think rl doesn't deserve the tax brake unions get as it's seen as a smaller sport! Leeds correctly are arguing that in their catchment area the blokes they employ who are far more marketable are the rhino players, who best serve the promo of their business! Are you keeping up?
So basically blokes who no fooker knows or give a $hit about get tax brakes for marketing Fook all, but the blokes who are the poster boys of a business arnt entitled to the same tax brakes as their lesser know work mates!
Leeds have a history of successful litigation and guess what? The sleeve never loses! Leeds don't touch cases they can't win.
The Revenue are been made to look like idiots. it's employment discrimination, it's disproportionate penalisation of income. It's poor researched legislation. They have been hammered for the last few fook ups, over charging under charging in 09/10. This will be another smudge against their name.'"

Leeds wernt hauled up in front of a judge. For the reasons I have mentioned the rfl asked Leeds to take on the case/be the test case as they can prove the point to any judge in the land in the most simple way.

| Quote ="Father Ted"The fallout that Rouges is mentioning is from the tax scams that clubs went in for. Image Rights, ebt's etc. The RFL approved their use but Whelan wouldn't allow Wigan to use them until, I believe, the latter days of his ownership.
If HMRC get their way some clubs will be in trouble big time. That the RFL approved the use of these scams without foreseeing the consequences suggests they are people not capable or fit to run the salary cap. It also call into question clubs who vote in a salary cap, then go in for tax scams that in the end could cost them untold amounts of money.
The monitoring and running of the cap has been complete nonsense from the day it was introduced. As I mentioned, some clubs could be in serious financial trouble if the HMRC get their way.'"
Is this theory applicabble to the Premier League, Football League and RFU?

Taken from elsewhere, but in short
Quote Leeds Rhinos continue to fight the HMRC, for what could cost the club an estimated £2m in unpaid taxes.
The tax bill is concerning the controversial use of image rights to pay high earning Australians.
Leeds have taken this case on, because of the perceived unfairness in which the taxman is accused of favouring certain sports,
RU are now allowed to pay 15% as a whole, but HMRC are requesting RL clubs pay players less in image rights, (leaving League clubs with a larger tax bill backdated to 2001), stating that RL does not offer the same image publicity as sports such as football and Union.'"

Just what I said! The union players on Leeds books promo the business very little the rhinos players promo the business in a big way! The rules HMRC have made up just don't stand up Leeds can prove that by how marketable the rhinos players are compared to the tykes. Massive win for Leeds. Massive fail by HMRC

The other year the auditors of one super league club wouldn’t approve the club’s accounts without a specific reference to that club being under investigation by the HMRC being included in the issued accounts.
Which club do you think that was?

| Yes we know all about Leeds Rhinos/Tykes etc and the test case.
That the HMRC would come back over image rights etc was predicted and the prediction fulfilled.
Whatever the perceived rights and wrongs of the case the way and the extent that the scams were used was wholly wrong.
HMRC were against image rights from the start but lost cases against a number of soccer players.
It was inevitable they would come back, Whelan knew this and so did everyone else.
It will be interesting to see the test case outcome and the consequences if Leeds lose. Which for RL's sake I hope they don't.

Leeds won't lose, if they did the would just pay the 2 mill. There is no fraud here it's not a criminal case. It's the other sl clubs who will go to the wall Leeds have the cash to clear the situation up I would think the others don't.

I think that's more to do with the economic climate. Leeds don't really need more corporate, we have all we need. But to be fair most stadium plans get a scale down from the initial artists impression! It also had headingley surrounded by trees and park? Thats not happening either.
My mate is the cad engineer for the Cas ground! That was like bloody wembley first draft! big metal arch and the lot! seating all the way round like a bowl! Those plans soon got slashed! It's gonna be like wire.

I think it is fantastic that Leeds are keeping the southstand as a terrace. It is iconic in RL. It would have been a real shame had it been a corporate hot spot.
Leeds need to fix the away end though!
I think most new RL grounds will have to be like wires or the LSV. Although the extension of the HJ should make it look much better.

I seem to recall that it was more of a planning issue and the stand had to be below a certain height, hence the reduction in size and capacity in the scaled down proposals.

I agree. Gleeson helped Goulding get into the England team! Now he can't get into first grade at club level.

| Getting back to transfer rumours Steffan Ratchford is in today's League Express saying how he's always dreamt of playing for his hometown team and hopes that one day it can happen. He said he's grateful to Salford for all they've done for him and it would be a big decision to leave but he's going to take his time thinking about his next move.
Sounded like a guy that has a few offers on the table and I wouldn't be suprised to see him in a Wigan shirt next season.

Talk about an exageration. Goulding had a very good season last season and what Goulding did well had little to do with Gleeson. Maguire is ruthless and there were times last season when Goulding wasnt in the team and when Pryce and Roberts were selected instead. This is absolutely no different to what has happened so far this season when Goulding was left out after the Catalan match, after being fantastic the when the week before against Leeds. Liam Farrell has also been dropped this season, as has been Josh Charnley amongst others, and I am sure just like last season Goulding will get his chance again. This competition for places is great for the club.

Yeah alright, sure.
Take a look at the try scoring record for wingers outside of Gleeson. Look at Gouldings try scoring record with Gleeson then look at it every other season.
