To try and get back on topic i have to admit i agree with the sentiments of BK regarding we aren’t far off at all.

It can’t be overstated just how much a new, clever HB will transform this team.

The difference last night down to two major points imo-

1-We just don’t have that extra class near the opposition line. It was evident last week and it was evident last night again. We miss the type of player like Trent who can give that killer miss pass or short ball to send us in. I lost count how many bullets Trent through last season

2-We lack organisation in attack. To many times our kicks were p1$$ poor and went straight down Mathers or Reilly’s throat. Some times we were kicking from deep on the 3/4th tackle and not making the kicks count. If you kick early then you have to make the kick count e.g 40/20 or find touch we failed numerous times to do this.

A HB with that extra bit of class and kicking game will take us up to a new level and we probably would have won our last two games.

I want to read it, this is pure gold.

tbh as i said in another post...I honestly dont think we are that far off.....A new coach and a top class half back general to play in the middle with sam, tommy to hooker and we could win SL next season.

We have been saying 'not that far off' for years now, its getting boring.

After waching Sam tomkins my first thoughts were he's defo not a 7 hardly moves the ball around the field doesn't organize the team.

So is he an old fashioned 6 who plays second receiever runnin off the back of a 7, this is difficult to judge considerin how poor tommy is as a 7.
Then I thought about trying him at fb. He has speed a quick step and would be awesome linkin up with the halves as all quality fb's do.

Remember putting a young 6 at fb is a tactic well used- Edwards/Lockyer keeps them out of the middle and allows them to link up well.

The issue is not the Communist Cap per se. It is rather the size of it. It is clearly not large enough to retain the talent in the game or relevant to the abilities of many clubs to pay a lot more on wages.

In answer to the first point it is pretty obvious the Salary cap has seen established or up and coming stars leave the game. Chris Ashton moved to Union.

In the NRL it is a lot worse. Matt Rodgers and Sailor (though they have returned. SBW, Gasnier, Tuquir, Luke Rooney have all gone. All were established internationals.
