Funny, I don’t know the first name of any person on this site so it would be hard pressed to call them pals. More fellow debaters and commenters. Nice try though

| Quote ="Ruddy Duck"You are right about the excuses for not attending games. Examples being "I cannot attend a game because I work nights, Thursday night games are no god as the kids are at school the following day etc, etc.
In the many years I have supported the club and worked on nights, three shift systems, it never stopped me from attending games like Wednesday Lancashire Cup or Tuesday Floodlit games for the simple reason, I have either swapped shifts or took a days holiday. Games which had bigger attendances than what we get now on a Thursday including 26,000 watching a International against Fiji.
I was also supporting the club during the early and mid seventies when gates slumped to as low as 2,500 until Uncle Mo & Co stopped the rot and created more interest, signed better and bigger signings than what we are seeing now as a result of only getting rookies, has beens or players who have been in trouble in Oz as well has not now being able to sign top players from the rival code of Union.
Now the game like Football is all about corporate facilities for the better off and no longer the game is was for the ordinary supporters and this may account for the reason many have stopped attending games and instead just watch them on television.
And if there is Austerity, how is it that many now have more money to spend on other interests.
When you have tasted the butter, margarine is not the same!'"
The “well if I could do it 40yrs ago there’s no reason you can’t do it now” argument is flawed and completely stupid. My leave has to be booked 12months in advance in most cases. I have booked off already CC Final and the Grand Final.
I don’t even know why I’m justifying myself to you. Congratulations you’ve lured me in and brought me down to your level and beaten me with experience.

Judging by some of you comments and sarcasm, it would appear that it is me that is coming down to your level.
p.s. And how can anyone who works nights not get to a afternoon game with a 3.00 pm kick off, especially a testimonial for a loyal servant of the club like Liam Farrell.

And judging by yours you’re an old stuck in the mud flat capper who’s vision is so clouded your desire for the return of yesteryear you’re resorting to flawed and ridiculous arguments which make you look stupid.
P.S my personal circumstances are of no concern or business of yours. If I can make the game I will, if I can’t I can’t it’s as simple as that. If you’re that lacking in common sense then there’s really nothing anyone can say or do to help you.

P.S. you have obviously never worked nights because if you had you would know that you need to sleep during the day,a bit like if you work days you sleep at night

For your information, I worked for 17 years on a three shift system which included a night turn every three weeks, but ithe shifts never prevented me getting to home games both with 3.00pm or 7.30pm kick offs. At the Manly game in 1987, I was in the players bar at Central Park until midnight and at work for 6.00am while on another occasion, I went to a evening cup tie at Oldham (Which Wigan lost to a last minute drop goal) and got into work at 11pm instead of 10pm as my foreman allowed a workmate on the afternoon shift to work a hour longer while I lost a hours pay.
Thats being 100% Wigan!
Nothing, but excuses these days for not attending games.
p.s. How many night shifts or indeed three shift systems have you worked?

| I used to work on nights about twenty years ago on a three shift system. After working a 10pm - 6am shift I preferred to go straight to sleep as soon as I got home, I would then wake up around 1-2pm.
On my shift though I had mates who would stay awake till midday/early afternoon and then sleep till 9pm then come straight to work. A few did it so they could take the kids to school. One mate would crack 2-3 cans of lager before going to sleep.
I suppose it depends on which you preferred. Also a lot of people don't do the traditional three shift system anymore, a lot now do a 12 hour shift.

For your information i worked approximately 14 years on nights doing 12 hour shifts on security, its down to the amount of sleep each individual person requires and has nothing to do with being a 100% WIGAN as you put it,12 hour s are normally 6-6 or 7-7

What do you want? A round of applause? Blue Peter badge?
Being 100% Wigan is supporting the team 100% through thick and thin. Not on whether you go after nights or how often you can get there. People’s circumstances are different, both at home and work. You’re not God Almighty because you got to work at 11pm instead of 10pm once. You don’t claim the throne of King because you’re circumstance meant you could get to more games.
You have no idea about what other things I’ve got going on in my life. I have none about yours or anyone else. I don’t and won’t sit here calling anyone about not attending a game for that reason. It seems that bit of morality is lacking from your moral compass up on Almighty Hill.

Why is it that unlike other posters who have put forward constructive, reasonable or in some cases comical replies to any of my contributions, you always have to resort to making adverse and sometimes personal comments to anyone who disagrees with you.

Pot calling the kettle black?
I called you out on on your opinion which I and many others I may add see as complete rubbish. No different to what I’d do to any other poster. If you seriously believe replies to you in the main have been constructive and reasonable given your responses to them then good on you but I can tell you they aren’t.
You’re sat there insinuating you’re top of the fans because you could get to a few games once upon a time. You pay no regard to anyone else’s circumstances as to why some games cannot be made but as a way to get at people and illicit a response start a whole new thread and then have the audacity to post the above dribble playing victim when once again you’re called out and made to look silly.
Beggars belief.

I hope he has a good season as well. However his honeymoon period is over and he needs to deliver the goods this season, with or without injuries. He promised a more attacking brand of rugby when he arrived so hopefully we should soon start to see this.

I don't think you can expect any coach to win anything with the injuries we have had especially last season

I didn’t expect us to win anything last season regardless of injuries as it was always going to be a transitional season. I’ve more confidence this year but I would like to see a little “off the cuff” rugby this time around
