I didn't witness any of this (I did see beachballs being thrown around but I didn't see anything other than what looked like harmless fun), but the reports are very worrying. Many of us have (rightly) criticised certain other clubs' fans on this board for their poor behaviour but something seems to be going wrong in terms of the behaviour of some Wigan fans at the moment. At least its good to see that a lot of people on here seem to take this problem seriously.

There would never be a good time for this, but it is ridiculous that just when the club seems on the brink of a new era of success we have a problem like this. Very worrying and depressing.

The idiots at Good Friday definatly were not accepted by the true wigan fans, who were telling them exactly what they thought of them, with songs like "kick 'em out" and "your the scum of Rugby League"

how rude! all i was saying, and i'm entitled to an opinion, is that it's funny how things can at times backfire, you especially were on of the few that spent time on the warrington board slagging "scum" warrington fans off, now that it's your fans & the tables have turned i chose to point it out, not once have i been rude, not once have i called you scum, not once have i tarnished all wigan fans with the same brush (i have some pie friends, believe it or not)

This is one price all clubs pay for being successful, the glory hunters coming out to play. Which of part of these glory hunters you get the ones who think its acceptable to punch stewards, throw insults at teams who have been through heartbreak over the last few years and just be general idiots.

You look at saints away and you could see from before the game that trouble was brewing, I mean wigan "fans" fighting between themselves at the back of the stand. I cant recall once over the last 7 years when I have been to the shed and I have seen fighting between our own fans. And no doubt this was the same group who attacked the steward, which is also shocking.

And then you get individuals against wakefield who say things like "take it in watene" and you begin to question who raises these people? Where have they learnt to be morons?

The club need to sort this out before true fans start staying away because of all the trouble. It may be one or two isolated incidents at the minute but these incidents begin to add up and make us as fans, who as shown over the last few years are one of the best bunches of fans around, look like trouble makers, which is untrue.

If we all join forces and show these idiots its unacceptable Im sure they won't bother coming again!

I don't think there is a rugby fan anywhere that will disagree with you. This small minority of people need kicking out of our game.

However, what I think Slim has taken issue with is that you personally have been on the Warrington board more than once and called all Warrington fans scum. When in fact it is just a very small minority. Exactly the same as at Wigan.

I'm sure you would take issue if you were labelled the same as the idiots causing trouble at Knowsley Road and Odsal.

That was a very good post overall but I think the above is absolutely spot on.

So far as I'm aware, Wigan fans have never had the reputation of causing trouble. That label once fit Wire fans, but they are as good as gold these days (at KR anyway). The only other fans in recent years that have caused bother at Saints has been Hull KR, and that was fighting among themselves. They are also the only other club so far as I know who have had a police escort.

It would be a shame if Wigan fans got the reputation of being trouble. I would hope that instead of laughing about what happened - whether or not KR is a dump and whether or not the steward was swearing - the majority of Wigan fans who are reasonable people and who want to enjoy their rugby league will get together to get rid of the idiotic element within your support base so that the problem is ended now rather than seeing it escalate and bring about significant consequences, for the club and the sport.
