| The biggest threat now is that the occasion will get to a relatively inexperienced team. There are lads in the Wigan colours who have played in finals before, but the only one who did this in Cherry and White is Lockers.
There were be a carnival atmosphere in Wigan this week, but hopefully Maguire and Wane will closet the players from it as effectively as they closeted them from all the bickering last week. In 1984, I saw a young Wigan side freeze at Wembley and get whupped by Widnes. But they learned their lesson that year. They never again treated any cup final as a day out, and became past-masters at preparation for these big events. Graham Lowe and John Monie would isolate their teams in hotels for about a week before the big day. Hopefully we'll now be following these lines.

| So pleasing that last night's result should put to bed the silly idea that we can't win big games or that we're bottlers. In reality we've been winning big games all season - the home defeats to Saints and Wire were probably bigger games for our opponents than they were for us, as we'd have buried them in league table terms had we beaten them, and we went away after both of them and backed up with massive results in matches which were equally big from our point of view. Thankfully, last night's result in a do-or-die situation, away to the three-time reigning champions means that everyone else should now be able to see that winning spirit too.
I'm just delighted that we'll be there next week. Whether we win or not, it's still a massive achievement. There's a nagging thought in my head that Saints won't lose four GF's in a row, just as we managed to break our run yesterday after three seasons of falling short at the last hurdle. That's for next weekend though. Bring it on!

| From a Salford Fan, congratulations to Andy Coley and congratulations to Wigan on reaching the Final.
Hopefully, with our team strengthening next year, we can avoid our usual drubbing at the Pie Dome.
Good Luck next week!

| From a Leeds fan, Good Luck, next week.
You outclassed us last night, and have brought some good players through for the England squad, for the 4 Nations (Tomkins brothers), and i'm sure every rugby fan, will be eagerly anticipating next weeks match.

I know exactly what you mean, but things don't always go according to the script.
The ondoing deification of Keiron Cunningham is getting a bit boring, to be honest. My Latics-supporting neighbour informed me last night that Wigan had done well and deserved to get to the final, but that they won't win next week because a Grand Final victory will be the perfect fairy tale ending to Keiron Cunningham's career.
Well ... fairy tale endings are few and far between. I think next week's result will be more about who's got the most talent and who prepares for the game more thoroughly.

| The feeling of being back where we belong has not sunk in yet. We where brilliant last night and if we defend like that we will have no worries next week.
Next saturday is our day!

| We're going to do it. I genuinely feel that. I've been through all the what's, if's and maybe's surrounding the Keiron Cunnigham retirement and 'fairytale ending'. Then again, why can't it be a fairytale ending for Feka and the rest who are leaving?
We can do it next week. We will do it next week. And we'll all be able to say that we were there.

i think that would be the case if it were leeds they were playing but all that out of the window now
as is always said form etc goes out the window for a derby and i think you put there previous losses in with that too

That really is the thing when it comes to Wigan vs Saints. Wigan could be destroying everyone in site and Saints could be struggling, or vice-versa, but the out of sorts side could end up stuffing the in form one.
Not to say that there will be a clear winner next Saturday, I reckon we're in for a very, very close game. What I'm saying is derby's are charged on extremely high emotion, and anything can happen.

I know, neither can I. It just seems like such a long way off
This game just means so much more than other finals I have been to. As a teenager in the 90's I went to that many finals at Wembley etc and Wigan won so many league titles that I just took it all for granted thinking it would never end and frankly it all got a little stale and boring. Although they were still good they just seemed like normal events, particulalry towards the end of the glory years, and just dont seem half as special as this.

| I can understand all the comments especially those by famous. My children now 30 and 26 were brought up on Wigan will win and even now my son (the 30 year old) and season ticket holder since he was 8 still says every match that we will stuff them.
We are where we should be and irrespective of the result next week this season WIGAN have performed each and every match (although my wife had to calm me last night) as against last few years years when we played for 40 minutes when we felt like it.
Next week who knows but I think next season with the existing players and the additional ones we will be light years ahead. I really hope this does not come back to bite me on the bum or else where.
Super season and thanks to everybody.
Regards to all Wigan fans in the queue today, just chilled out but we had great time with true fans, thank you.
Regards
T

Great Post, I'm 33 and that sums things up well for me. A win on Saturday and I will finally be able to say Wigan Are Back! Now where's that flag thread gone?

| Well played Wigan last night. Fully deserved to beat us. You have led the way all season and have earned the right to be there next week.
I remember Maguires interview minutes after getting knocked out of the CC in the last minute at Headingley and he was very gracious in defeat. Shaun Wane also stood up for Ablett after his challenge on Tompkins in the league game when he had no reason to. Both occasions left a good impression and i hope you win it next week.

| Done well this season Wigan and undoubtedly an improvement. I do maintain that I consider you to be the worst side to ever top the Super League table, however still defensively a hell of a side.
With regards to next week, I fancy Saints' pack being too strong for Wigan in all honesty. If we kick well I see us winning in a tight one.
Just like to add that its fitting a Saints - Wigan finale with the tragic news regarding Terry Newton. Terrible shame and I hope the final is a spectacle worthy of a send off a fine rugby player.

| In a strange way if we win next week that wouldn't be our greatest achievement this season. The fact that we have been able to change the mentality, of virtually the same team that we had last year, combined with the bringing through of such a fantastic crop of youngsters is a great achievement on its own. Next week would just be the icing on the cake.

As Super League is only just over a decade old, that isn't too important. To everyone outside St Helens, that is.

How does that work, considering that we have accrued more points than anyone else in the past 4 years?
Also, how does "the worst side ever...." manage to score more, concede less, contain BOTH of the top 2 try scorers, the top kicker, break the record for most points in a SL season (equalled, but over 1 game less) and then to top it all, complete a clean sweep of MoS, Young Player, Coach and Team of the Year?
Obviously you know something that every player and coach within the game is missing - Perhaps you should write to them all individually to point out whatever it is.
