| Quote ="super_fc"FWIW I think Lauaki would be a revelation at a club like Wigan. The only reason he hasnt lived up to his potential at Hull is because of Agar. Agar uses him as an prop because our back row is probably the strongest area of our squad, but really Lauaki is a back rower. He's got a great pair of hands, good footwork and obviously he's an aggressive bugger, but unfortunately Agar just sees the latter, hence why he's just used as a battering ram. Under the right coach I think he could be devastating, but while he's at Hull any talent he has got will be coached out of him. I hope he does sign for Wigan because like I say, used correctly, he could be a fantastic player.'"
I've only seen him play prop and have not been impressed. I get he's aggressive...uncontrolled at times. However I bow to your superior knowledge about him. I just don't see with the strength we have in the back row already, how he would play there regularly.

Hopefully Wigan have made the correct choice. He's still only a young guy with plenty of room for improvement though. Fingers crossed Crosby and Spencer can step up next year.
Because with only Fielden, Lima, Prescott and Mossop as the only recognized first team prop's at Wigan next year, any injury's to those four and we're going to need these young lads to show their metal.'"
Apprently signing for Hull Kingston Rovers.

I think personally that he is a lad with a big future, very well thought of by the pro coaches when I have heard his name mentioned. A player I would very much like us to retain.

He played back row loads of times in his first season.
Deffo available now Moa has signed at Hull. Not bad with the ball but not a good defender.

| Why are we looking at backrowers? We have Hansen, Hock, Farrell and Tuson all competing for spots there in the short term, plus Joel and Mossop could cover there, plus Hughes will be looking for the odd game too. The priority should be a half or hooker to replace Deacon.

For me it must be a Prop and Centre, which leads me to think if this link is a real one the he would be recruited as a Prop.
We have to play the market though, we can only target players who are available. My philosophy though would be if the players we have targeted are not available then do not bring anyone in or only recruit on a 1 year contract, no point in being stuck with a player you do not need/panic buy for 2 or 3 years......we have been there before!

Unless the plan is to move Hock up to prop as many were predicting, he really is bigger than when he left and (for example) is just as big if not bigger than Mossop who's having a cracking season at prop.
Hock to prop, Joel staying at centre (no centres available, unless they take a punt on someone like Joe Arundel) and get a replacement for Hoffman (but the available 2nd rowers from Aus seem to have been snapped up - Laffranchi and Waterhouse in particular)

Do you think Hock has the discipline to play prop? The sensible, hard yards "get us out of here" type play?
I haven't seen much of him since his return, fabulous player though - one I've always rated as amongst the few British world class players.

I do not think we fully know who is available. We know who is off contract but there are always players who are available, there are many scenarios we could look at in relation to the team and its balance.
My personal favourite would be for Joel to replace Hoff in the pack, meaning we bring in a centre to replace Joel and then a Prop to replace Coley.
Obviously much depends on the quality of player available. I would like 1 more year for Deacon with Mellor getting some game time next year also.

Agree with you there.... Depends how much he has changed as a person. Good props need to be rather stoical, be interesting to watch how he plays from here on.

Bluntly, no.
IMO he's wasted in the front row -get him out wide and running at/over people.
He can start with Myler tomorrow.

So do I. Before Hock came back I thought he could be an awesome prop, people were saying how much he had bulked up. He has bulked up but he still has the same running style. I think it is better to have the extra size in the backrow and have a natural prop who will make the hard yards playing in the front row. Adam Blair doesn't do a bad job at prop though.

| Our back row selection maybe solved by Amos.
He is ok now, or so it says on the other board, and could come in on the right wing. That could allow Josh Charnley to play right centre and Joel return to the pack.
Hock would be the left sided 2nd row and Joel right sided, both in their natural positions. Whether HH would be in front of them is another matter but that is competition for places. All three would be in the 17.
After those three there's Farrell, Tuson and Hughes. Quality all the way.
Props. We have Fielden, Lima, Mossop, Prescott and at present Coley plus Cross. The latter two may not be here next years and not just Cross. Whether we bring someone in or go with Crosby and Spencer remains to be seen.
All in all though, a very good pack indeed with Lockers as captain at loose.

Depends on who our staff are next year, particularly the head coaches role.
I just cant look past that decision at the moment because its a massive one.

| Signings for me depend on who's coming through the ranks who realisticly could be a first team prospect.
We need a centre, a prop and possibly a hooker.
But as I always say look inward first to build a team.
Centre-how is Acton progressing?
Hooker-we have two good up and coming 9s
Prop-do we need a prop with experience or are any of the younger lads ready?
I think we also need to be realistic, many of the young lads won't be good enough-that's life.
I think MM is an outstanding coach however I am disappointed that the likes of Logan Tomkins and Ryan King especially havent gotten more 1st team game time to introduce them slowly into the fold rather than always using Goulding as cover.

I understand your sentiments but great teams bring in kids a player or 2 a season. No more - unless you have exceptional kids.
This season we've added Charnley, and given Stef Marsh good experience. Last year saw Mossop and development of the Tomkins bothers and Macca.
Next year we will see who else comes in.
But unless theyre good enough to replace the guys with the jerseys - why rush it ?
Over the last decade we have rushed to bring in kids/new players as a panic measure whioch has done no-one any good.
Have faith.
