RG, I dont disagree i can only assume the symptoms have either progressively got worse and lance will have failed the checks that players have to go through or the medical staff have picked up on a steadily declining performance stats.

I hope for the players sake it has been picked up on quick enough so serious long term damage is avoided.

poor ben. the sport needs to do a lot to protect him even more now, but can be congratulated (for once) for the saints clubs' handling of lances welfare.

the sport also needs to knuckle down on all of the media hype surrounding this. we can't help the forum banter and arguments over who is to blame, but that is what forums are for.

I may be a wiganer and want the best for ben wearing my cherry and white tinted glasses, but if lance were to take matters further regarding the GF incident then I'd lose a lot of respect for him.... I bumped my car and hurt my back in 1999, so therefore I'm now going to consider suing Vauxhall, the dvla, wigan council and the petrol station I used that day as they were clearly to blame. oh and work, as it was a Saturday and I don't work Saturdays, so if my employer did make me work Saturdays then it wouldn't have happened. also my dad for paying for my driving lessons.

Calling other team's players whilst simultaneously cracking one off over even the most ordinary of your own players is all well and good but if you carry on like this it'll be coming off in your hand one of these days. Passions seem to running a bit high, especially given the current situation, which to summarise is, Saints player retires citing concussion as the reason. As far as I can see in what I have read, he has NOT pointed the finger at any incident or anyone as the cause. Some in the media have linked the GF incident at the end of their reports on Hohaia retirement and its attribution to concussion injury. Some fans of the two clubs involved in last years GF seem to have taking to trading insults and accusations ref the incident at the GF. Take a step back and draw a breath before committing to these threads, stuff you might regret. For mine it is a shame that Hohaia has had to stop playing, I also think he has acquitted himself well in his comments about the incident at the GF. Also for mine and whilst in no way condoning the actions of Flower at the GF, the incident has been dealt with and he has served his suspension.

At the moment, nobody knows the full facts. It might be that Hohia was suffering symptoms though last year. It might be that his symptoms are a result of a new injury suffered this year. It might be his symptoms are a result of the injury sustained in the grand final.
If the latter is the case it will be for Hohia to take the legal steps he is entitled to follow. His decision will be based on medical evidence, of which nobody here has enough knowledge of to comment.

I'm not sure it would ever get that far anyway. Think for a second the precedent it would set. The lawyers would be the only winners & both codes plus wendyball would be sanitised to the point of a chess game (or draughts if you prefer).
