The lad has more heart and desire in his left nut then Pryce had in his whole body. He works hard for the team, taking in tough carries and scores as many if not more then Pryce. He's been playing top flight rugby league for about 15 games unlike Pryce who started off at Bradford at around 17 and had years under his belt before taking the easy life and money in Union.

It's a non starter to compare the two and here's hoping we extend his contract but for serious reasons rather then to give an opposition fan, desperate to see any form of Wigan failure, however small, a thrill!

Gelling is the product of two separate NRL club's development systems. He hardly came to Wigan as a rugby league novice.

no he came to wigan as a bricklayer and had a bit of experience in the 2nd row never playing first grade, and he's playing better than karl pryce ever did so its a none starter. But your right i hope we do offer him a 2 year extension he's only going to fill out and become better its clear to see he can be a good player.

He got binned off by Sydney Roosters for crapping on a hotel's floor and then went to play for the NZ Warriors feeder club. I make that two NRL club's development systems but willing to count again if you think I might have mis-counted somewhere.

ok so he was lying when he was saying he's day job was a brick layer? he got sacked from the rooster AS A SECOND ROW and went playing part time for the vulcans who just happen to be used by the new zealand warriors. He's been played out of a position every game he's managed to get because of injuries and he looks a lot better this season than last and i am happy that he's at wigan

There has been unfair and nasty criticism of particular players going on for a long time . It really is quite depressing. The worst example is the abuse aimed at Lockers for a number of years.. We have an annoying amount of idiots but they are just idiots rather than racist idiots, to be fair. There aren't many Wigan fans who don't appreciate what black players have done for our club and the game. Some of them are all time greats of rugby, not just club legends.

I do. The vast majority of people simply don't bother where a player comes from, they look at what he does on the pitch.

Lots of people have (rightly or wrongly) criticised Goulding, McIlorum, Joel and Logan Tomkins, Ashton, Hock, Lockers, Ainscough, Tuson, Prescott, Thornley, to name but a few. Yes, it's good to have all these local lads coming through, but neither Wane nor the majority of fans give them any special treatment either way.

Have you even read my posts? My opinion of him is based on his time with us, stop making it sound like I'm basing it on Fridays game, in clearly not. I haven't insulted anybodies posts and have stated that I hope he proves me wrong. Its anything but a vendetta. Maybe I haven't mentioned any others players mistakes because this thread is called Anthony Gelling, just a thought. My posts are my opinion, I haven't insulted anyone. How many first team games did he play?

We've got umpteen lads here that have come through one of the rugby league worlds best development system yet have played very few first team games. They're inexperienced kids trying to make their way in the game. Gelling is just the same regardless of who's reserve teams or feeder clubs he's played in.

I'm sure you'll have a good celebration if he does eventually fail though. Any small crumb will do I suppose.

He still cant keep hold of the ball though he made 4 handling errors v Widnes in my opinion he is a s good as a under 19 player

Karl Pryce did once play through the pain of a badly cracked fingernail though.

Showing signs of real quality thus far. Using his size well.

It would be interesting to see how he gets on with a platform and early ball.

He is working off scraps so far but making good use of them.

Wrote the above at half time, he has played himself into a starting centre shirt tonight. Having only played 5 games all year and to perform like that I believe we have a frightening prospect on our hands in the centre.
