| Quote ="Pieman"on last seasons for I disagree, Cqarmont is one of the best defending centres in the league and the amount of tries Richards and Pryce scored outside him this and last year and Ainscough last year speaks for itself'"
It doesn't reallky though. Like with us, alot of Wigan's play is created from the slick passing on the middle with the centre alot of the time making the final pass. In O'Loughlin you probably have the best passer of a ball for a forward in SL and with Tomkins chiming in the line, alot of misdirection is used. It's not as if Carmont is beating three or four through his own brilliance then putting the wingers in is it.

| Carmont has a great passing game and runs some fantatsic lines to create the extra man and also enables him to be used as a dummy runner. Sam didnt play fullback 2 years ago and not that many games there last year so that negates the point that he is the reason for all the tries, maybe some but not all. For his age also he still has plenty of pace and is tough as nails often playing injured.

I rate him as a very good player. But he isn't on the top 2 in the league.

Carmont and Gleeson have been absoulutely superb for us last season and my point was, why would we even consider buying a centre?? At no point what so ever have I said Greg Inglis is not a world class player, he is, and would love him at Wigan when Carmont's contract is up, but for the time being im quite happy with having IMO the best 2 centres in SL.'"
So you really think Greg Inglis wouldn't this team better then it is? Crazy.
If you had done a Leeds three in a row I could maybe understand it but off one title I can't.

Ok then, name the SL team that has a better centre partnership then.

Depends of what means "better"
Assists wise Gleeson wasn't that good last season and Carmont was average.

Greg Inglis is a freak of a player & would make an impact with any club he played for. I think the argument us Wigan fans have is that, for the money Carmont's on compared to Inglis & the job he does for us it wouldnt make sence to break the bank for Inglis.

You keep saying you wouldn't change the "winning" team even for Inglis and you have just said it again
how could you possibly drop Gleeson or Carmont after the season we have just had?
Simple Inglis craps on both of them.

I have no doubt he is a fantastic player, but still, no, I would not drop any of our centres as they were both fantastic for us last season and I wouldnt disrupt a winning side, why would you?
Had the exact same arguement the other day about Billy Slater, would I sign him? Not a chance when we have got Sam Tomkins.

And do what with Leuluai (world cup winner and harry sunderland winner) and Deacon/Finch???
Sam has proven his best position is full back, and will stay there.

Yes your a winning side but are you unbeatable? No.
Players like Billy Slater and Greg Inglis make teams nearly unbeatable.

Leuluai at 9. Finch and Tomkins at halfback. Any person with a brain would make that adjustment to accomodate Billy Slater. I understand you may be on a high after Wigan's great season or even high judging by some of your statements, but if you're honestly saying you'd prefer to have George Carmont & Sam Tomkins than Billy Slater & Greg Inglis then I suggest you start watching more RL.

Id rather have Tomkins than any full back in world RL, yes. Id absoulutely love Inglis at Wigan when Carmonts contract expires but for the time being im more than happy to stick with the centres we have and we have absoulutely no reason what so ever to look for or sign a centre or full back.

NO team is unbeatable, look at Australia in the World Cup Final (awful Slater error), and the 4 Nations Final, both Slater and Inglis are quality players, but who knows if they would settle over here, would their attitude at Wigan be as good as the players that won us the GF, we already have 3 new players coming in to a very happy and settled squad, both Carmont and Gleeson are well liked and respected team members, things are going well at present, no need to 'tamper' too much with a very strong group.

| In all honesty if there was any chance of getting Inglis, I wouldn't have made a single argument against losing Carmont and not signing Hoffman, maybe Lima too.
Perhaps even not signing Finch either, Inglis would tear up SL at 6 if required.
Roberts
Charnley/Goulding
Gleeson
Goulding/Charnley
Richards
Inglis
Tomkins
Would be absolutely devastating for other teams.

| All this hype about why Wigan should sign G.I.
Yes he's a freak on the field - Sometimes
He can be a game breaker - If it's a big game or there's rep duty coming up
Over an entire season..........................
Hard to keep motivated & injury free
Quite often goes AWOL for whole games
Is now being nullified by teams gang tackling
At the end of the day a [uteam[/u full of committed players far outweighs an occasional super freak
Throw in his two new best buddies Mundine & Nasser & I wouldn't have him anywhere near Wigan
