Is that a good thing or a Bad thing when it comes to watching Wigan Home & Away almost every week for the past 35 years or so and hopefully for the Next 35 Years+ or so?

I'll tell you what kind of supporter I am, one who goes whenever he can, on his own, with his family, with his mates (Send me a PM & I will explain what those are) and gets excited about watching Wigan EVERY TIME THEY PLAY!
I can't wait for the next game, I get peed off when we lose, I think I know all the answers when I have had 10 pints after the game, I get over a loss as quickly as I can, I don't get too carried away when we win

Talk about kicking somebody when they're down.

I didn't go to Leeds last year but I may be pathetic.
I've had a season ticket for years and years but I haven't been to an away game in years. As my mate and I have retired we said we would start to attend away games. We went to Warrington for the friendly and discussed going to other matches.
I was full of hope last Friday and put a couple of bob on us winning by about 40 points.
80 minutes of dirge has not inspired me to go to Hull.
I watched them get relegated and still got my season ticket for the second division ( one of about 4,000 fans who went regularly) because I still enjoyed watching them play, especially the effort shown by George Fairbairn. I can take defeat but when we still run in head down after 75 minutes...well it's Saints/Warrington forme.
Just remembered...went to watch us at Catalans last year.

Come on people some simple facts...

You are no better or worse a supporter based on the number of times you go or don't go. Thats as much as anything can be down to simple economics.
A lot of people on here have not yet had the joys of having a family or mortgage to pay so its a lot easier to follow the team.
It is something you do if you want to and if you can.

I don't care if someone has watched for 5 10 15 30 50 years...
they are a fan the same as the one that started going last week (that might be their first game out of 30 years we all start somewhere.

It's true some people just want to moan at everything.
They can its their right to be miserable.
They are as annoying as the people who can never see any wrong at all.
but that is their right to be like that.

THE ONLY PROBLEM IS...
When you have people who cannot understand that there is a difference between debate and an argument.

What's all this better fan worse fan nonsense. I go because I want to go. As well as watching the sport I love I enjoy the social side of it too. Drinking with my close mates and seeing people who I wouldn't normally see outside of the rugby environment.

People have compared watching the rugby to going to the theatre, eating at a restaurant etc over the last few days. Well they don't even compare for me. I don't go to the rugby for pure entertainment purposes. Supporting Wigan is lke a religion to me. It's either in your blood or it isn't.

If you are just interested in watching good rugby then why support a team at all? Where's the fun in only getting behind your team when they are winning and playing well. If you haven't been there through the rubbish times you won't appreciate the good times as much when they do come round.

At the end of the day it's a matter of personal choice. I like many choose to go regardless.

Just one further point re Charlie's 'blind fan' comment. Just because you go to every game it doesn't mean you agree with everything the club does. For example I have been extremely critcial of our recruitment and selection policy. However some of us aren't childish enough to put our toys in the pram and stop going just because not everything is being done the way we want it to be done.

Oh Hogan you are awful

I for one would never do that. After a loss like last Sunday's it tends to go like this for me as the week progresses. Disgust at the performance on leaving the ground. Waking up and then remembering it all over again the day after and thinking what a bunch of... but by the end of the week I actually want to go and support the team again possibly more than if we have just tanked a team.

Granted my expectations are lower now by quite a lot but I keep going. I am sure no one would consider me blind to the clubs faults. So despite the fact my eyes are wide open to them I still go and support the team. So in that sense it is a religion for me too.

I think Charlie's 'blind fan' comment is meant more at people who can't see any fault no matter how often they go.

I see what your point is mate, but im with Hogan, its all about enjoying the rollercoaster.
