Penalties conceded, that was the one that surprised me most as most have Lauaki down as a penalty machine.

Reading his Twitter page it certainly suggest's he ain't staying at Wigan.

Hopefully Wigan have made the correct choice. He's still only a young guy with plenty of room for improvement though. Fingers crossed Crosby and Spencer can step up next year.

Because with only Fielden, Lima, Prescott and Mossop as the only recognized first team prop's at Wigan next year, any injury's to those four and we're going to need these young lads to show their metal.

I personally do not mind it when my front row forwards give away a penalty or 2 especially if it is a manageable penalty. I do not think you can be a successful Prop without sailing close to the line from time to time, occasionally stepping over it.

With Lauaki it is not the number of penalties it is the needless nature of them that stand out, being penalised ball in hand is criminal, and is something that he has been done for on a number of occasions. I think to have a winning team you need clever players in every position, do not think Lauaki has the bit of game smarts to be a useful addition to our squad.

I think we will bring in at least 1 experienced forward next year, with a deal probably already done given the fact that we did not look to an option at extending the signing of Cross beyond this year, i think it would be an error to lose Hoffman and Coley and not add to the pack.

The only possible exception to this would be had we signed a centre freeing Joel and return to the pack and meaning in the off season Hocks transition to the front row had been arranged in the minds of the coaching staff.

I don't know which possibility I'd prefer. Hock moving to prop, Joel returning to the backrow and a quality centre coming in does sound good. However all indications are that no quality centre's are available for the next at least. So the best bet would be to keep everyone where they already are an instead bring another forward in as suggested.

I think your onto something in regards to Cross not being signed up for beyond this season. That does suggest another deal's either been done, or hopefully about to be done with another player. Hopefully not Lauaki though!



Cross really would have been an ideal replacement for Coley next year.

Lauaki hardly plays any time at Hull so i don't quite think it's fair to call him lazy, he can't make tackles, metres and carries when he's sat on the bench!

Dont think the club would have stayed with him and worked so hard finding a problem to this injury just to sack him off at the end of this season. Can see him getting a 1 year/appearance based contract to see how he goes once hes fully regained fitness and form.

I would rather have a work horse prop than an impact prop.

If we were to sign an impact prop I would seriously look into signing Warea-Hargreaves than Lauaki.

If you watch Lauaki in rep rugby you see what a good desturctive player he really is...He has a lot of speed for a big lad and is good with ball in hand, he is not the penalty machine people believe he is, he has had some brain f@rts which have been absolutley hilarious to watch...Agar is p@nts and has not used Lauaki correctly imo..I believe in the right team with the right coach he will be a very very good player.

Paul Wood was all set to join Wigan before a last minute change of heart and a subsequent extension to his Warrington contract.

That was a few months back now so I'm sure that something is being worked upon.

Ok, just me then...IF this story is true, I am happy to back the club and the people who know far more about the game than any of us!
