Give KR a wad(dunno how much but enough
) of cash plus Phelps and Smith and get Dobson.
I can see him wanting to come back to wigan cause he really enjoyed his time here.
He also seems to be the perfect player to partner Sam. Takes the pressure of him with his organisational skills. Good support play. Excellant long kicking game(which we really really need)
Its only a matter of time til Smith and Phelps go anyway and if we can pull of the Gleeson deal it wont be too difficult to do this one.(even though Tony Smith wanted rid of Glees)
Get Dobson and a good go forward Prop and I dont think we'll be too far away.
Also gunna look at possible captains for next year. Ive got no problem with Lockers being it just looking at other possible candidates
1.) Pat - Solid at FB, great at one on one tackles and great in the air, his positional sence will improve week by week, I know alot of people prefer him on the wing for his aerial threat but I think hes a bit wasted on the wing. Theres nothing stopping him joining the line at the centre position when attacking there line and sending a bomb up to him there. Also a Cool Head and calm under pressure. Captain Material
2.) Roberts - Obviously I dont think we've seen the best from Amos yet. But we have seen glipses that hes got pace and knows how the finish a try. Now his "wife and kids are over here" he might start to enjoy his rugby again. Nobody will be happy with the Gleeson signing more than Amos.
3.)Gleeson - We know what he can do lets just hope he can produce for us. Hopefully he settles into the team well and forms a partnership with Amos(as quick as Carmont and Ainy did) so we will be a threat either side of the field.
4.) Carmont - Isnt it nice to have two good centres. I think Carmonts one of our if not our best player. Just knows how to delay a pass and draw the FB/Wing in. Hopefully he'll take a contract extension. From his play you wouldnt be able to tell that he's one of our oldest players, doesnt lack pace at all. His partner with Ainy will get better every game hopefully(similair to the Gidley/Gardner
)
5.) Ainscough - Showed alot of promise in his starts this season. Him and Sam are pretty much the only positives I can take out of this year. He has good speed and balance, playing with an experianced centre like Carmont will help him. Like I said above their partnership should get better game by game. Obviously defence is a issue but it usually is with young wingers still adapting to the pace of Super League, I hope with work on it in training I wont be a problem for him.
6.) Sam - Real classy player who can hopefully be the xfactor we need to unlock the defences of Saints and Leeds. This will take time but a consistant run in the first team and also hopefully a good partner (Dobson). He seems to have great awareness, a great step and good pace. He also seems to have a good rugby brain for one so young and its only going to get better with more SL experiance. Really thinks hes special and is gunna be one of them 20 tries a season half backs.
7.) Dobson - Im desperate for us to spalsh some cash and lose two average aussies for this man. Lead us around the park at the back end of 06. His kicking game is super. Any who went to Hull KR last year will back me up. (Forced about 5 repeat sets and scored some tries which killed us in the second half that day) He could also challenge Pat for goal kicking duties cause by the looks of it if Pat doesnt play we aint gunna kick many goals
Another Plus with Dobson is his age he's only 22 so hes only gunna get better and hopefully he can patner Sam for years to come. Like we've all seen with saints and Leeds consistant half backs seems to be the key to a great team. Maybe Captain material
8.) Fielden - Simply not been good enough in his time at Wigan. Was great in 06 after he game and really led the pack , same the back end of last year when he had the chance to get in the England Squad. I hoped that this year he would continue his form and show Enlgand what they missed out on. However this has not happened, he is getting targetted by other teams players and simply dominated in the tackles etc. Dont know what do say except I hope he turns it around. He will be off a contract year next year so hopefully that will bring the best out of him. I also feel that he thrived when made captain last year for a game or two so possible Captain material
but maybe not wise in giving it a player whose contracts up at the end of the season.
9.) Riddell - Hopefully he can settle into the team with more and more games and have a more prominant role. Shame his hopefully partership with Tim Smith wont work
but hopefully he cant form a good partnership with the halves and offer something different in attack. As alot of people have said having a 6/7/9/13 consistant is the key to sucess we good have this with sam dobo pig and lockers.
10.) New Nonsence Good go forward prop. Bailey Lynch etc give fielden some help and give our now excelant backs ( cant believe ive just sed that) a platform for them to show what they can do. If it Bailey Possible captain material
11.) Hock - like Sam I think hock can be the key to unlock teams defences. He has really kick on in the playoffs last year and in parts this year. His game time seems to have increase this year aswell wheather that being to improved fitness or Noble need to have him out there. Hock can be used in two ways. One being as a direct runner, who runs at the line at speed and wins collisions ( this Hock is the one I think can move up to Prop if needed) Or Two, running towards the centre or half back making good ground and improving his chance of an offload. Both ways are quite effective but its down to Noble to see which one is more effective. Hes got good pace for a Backrower and a great step and offload. He gets critised alot for missing an offload etc but im happy to see somebody attempted to get us going forward, at least he had a positive idea. But however please no more of that stuff he did in the ingoal area at leeds
Has he heard of "safety first" or "live to fight another day." At the start of the season I would have put Hock on the bench because he provides looooads of impact with Feka, but now after his increased game time he has to start.
12.) Hansen - Put perform this year and next if hes gunna stay at Wigan. Im not going go on about what everybody knows Briliant in Denfence but offers little in attack. A couple of years ago I thought he was going to really kick on and turn into a top class player because his diffence was always good and he run good angles at pace. Hopefully he can kick on.
13.) Lockers - At the start of the season I was part of the group of people that wanted Lockers to be second row and move Joel to 13 but after watching Lockers improved role attacking role in the team my opinions changed. This year his "quick hands" passing has really improved and he has been apart of alot of our tries this year. Defence great always. KEEP HIM AT 13! Captain
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
14.) Tommy - I cant recall how many times me and my mates have said whilst watching wigan that Tommy we hardly notice Tommy for 25mins playing at scrum half and as soon as he goes hooker he makes a half break of a quick PTB and gets us on the front foot. Great in broken play cause of his great step and it didnt take long for NZ to spot that Hooker is his best position. Would complement Riddell perfectly (looks like a sortof KFC/Roby type combo)
15.) FEKA! - With the addition of another good prop hopefully it will allow Feka to be what he is, a great impact prop and not having to carry the pack when fielden is getting bashed about and coley is running sideways. Hes hits the ball at pace and has a good step for a big man, always causing defences problems. Pat/Sam or somebody else with pace should always look to follow him in into the tackle to await an offload cause we allow know that Feka's capable or slipping them out. I dont have a problem with his game time either 18/20mins from Feka is good enough for me. Look at Kylie Lulu at leeds often goes of about about 12mins. Feka is a important player for us but atm he is the only consistant go foward(with Hock)
16.) Prescott - Good young prop whose has return to the first team great. Defensivly solid and runs it in hard (wudnt mind him to run it more aggressively) and has excellant leg drive after the first contact has been make. Never lets us down. If he can stay injury free hopefully he can do for us what Burgess/Graham are doing for their teams.
17.) Joel - Suffered from lack of game time this year but his attitude is still good. But as I have said above Lockers will be at loose. But Joels just gotta try and impressive whilst hes on the field.
---------------------------------------------------------
Backing up are:
Mossop - Think hes the next youngest to break into the first team, look out Joel and Hansen
Eamon - Him and Prescott will have healthy competion for the 4th prop in the first team
Pyrce - Needs to impress when he gets his chance and compete for a wing place
Goulding - See Pyrce
Farrell - Still young now but a year or two diffinate first teamer
Flanagan - Is behind Mossop and Farrell for back row place
Ben Davies - looks an exciting propect but will take a year or two
Leaving this year:- Smith, Phelps, Bailey(backrow to good and now we have Glees its pretty obvious) Coley
Coming:- Dobo
and a prop
Even if the props an aussie we still got a quota spot available so???
In regards to the coach I dont know
Anyhows alot of Hopefully in their but thats my Plan expected place 3rd only a few points behind stains and leeds.
