| Charnley certainly seemed to be enjoying winding fans up over Solomona and he appearing for Sale, and was pleased he had landed some big ones..... Must be using a maggot for bait...

This is what I replied to saying 'poor do if you are genuinely trying to take the p*** out of fans that work hard to support their sport!Thought better of you'.
Now i'm blocked.
Never lost respect for someone so quickly. People work hard to watch these sportsmen, paying hard earned cash. They have the right to an opinion, but he doesn't care one bit for that. Would do him well to remember why they get paid.
Wigan players have the same attitude, as shown with the way Tomkins attacked Bilko. Lost a lot of respect for him as well.
All in all it leaves a bad taste in my mouth the way this has all been handled, and the way Sale have reacted to me having an opinion on that means I am very unlikely to spend any more of my money on tickets or merchandise.

| On the flip side there's a lot of this 'poor Cas' from the majority of RL fans for which quite correctly they have been hard done to. But I do wonder would we have received the same levels of sympathy had we lost our superstar winger under the same circumstances?
I do doubt it!
After the behaviour of a large number of their 'fans' towards us in our last meeting at theirs (including a grown man breaking the nose of a young female Wigan fan) I find it difficult to find any sympathy for them.
Obviously the bigger picture is troubling for the sport, which is concerning.

Let's not judge a club by its worst supporters. I certainly wouldn't want to be associated with some of the halfwits I share a stand with on match day. I've met many decent, reasonable Cas fans. Having said that, I agree, there would be a lot less sympathy if it happened to us. Cas are hurt more by this situation than we would be though, they have fewer stars to rely upon, they won't have the luxury of a Tierney waiting to take over, and they may not have the money/prospects to attract a top quality replacement. I also think a lot of fans are eager to see someone new win the SL, it has been 12 years since we had a new winner after all. They will therefore naturally support the cause of anyone who isn't Leeds/Wigan/Saints.

Which is exactly the argument I have made to all Cas fans who demand that Rugby league supporters back them up. Where were they when other players walked out on contracts? Willie Mason did pretty much exactly the same thing from memory. Why should we care now, if they didn't care then.

Correct. Cas have perhaps more than their fair share of idiots, but that stems from 'little dog syndrome'. Quite a few of them are okay, though.
The real villain in this, for me, is Solomona himself.
I didn't care much for his attitude when he was a Cas player, certainly when playing against us. So it hardly surprises me that he's done this to them.
But to walk away from a contract midway through is not just unmanly behaviour, it could have nasty repercussions for everyone else. I hope they succeed in throwing the book at him and his agent - and maybe Sale too - if for no other reason than to prevent RU chancing their arm this way again.

| Cas fans can cry until they are blue in the face for all I care. I personally hope they fight this, lose and go under like Bradford.
At the end of the day Solomona is a mercenary and i don't blame him. I'd go for the cash if I was in his place because, let's face it, I'd rather make my money young and not have to find alternative work when my rugby days are over.
Time clubs like Cas realised that there's a bubble outside of thier own self interests. Far too long have clubs like cas, Wakey and Hudds dragged & held the British game down. How they can expect sympathy from clubs like Wigan or Wire beggars belief when they've purposely voted to hold them back for almost 20 years now.
If you want a paupers game then players will leave. It's not rocket science here and it's certainly not some corbyn socialist playground. Scrap the cap and at least let those who can take the fight or make life difficult for RU do so.

It's that very threat that means he needs to make as much £ as possible for the longest time possible.
ATEOTD if he's getting his market rate then he'll be content, but if say another couple of sides like Wire and Sale come in with considerably more to offer then Cas either pay him what he's worth or let him go. That's even before you factor in length of contracts etc. If he moves somewhere on a four year deal then that's more money and more security should the worst happen.

| It's all Phil Clarke's fault according to Cas fans because he is named on his brothers company. Sod all to do with Solomona or Sale.
Oh and he apparently wants throwing off Sky for touting players to his brother and praising players

Actually, If a Super league player is injured for 9 months out of any 12 month period, they can be sacked from the remainder of their contract. This is awful for player welfare because it means that players nearing that mark can rush themselves back, potentially causing more long term damage, all down to the fact that their contract can be voided.
However, this is a specific clause in the contract. I think this should be taken out of contracts!

so 9 months, like any employment really as its an incapacity to fulfill your role. So a broken leg 3-4 months he would be protected and doing no work for full pay and might never be as good as he was but thats fine as he has a contract. A club couldnt just sack him due to him being out for 3-4 months so why should they be able to walk? they shouldnt. If they want to leave they should buy out their contract or lump it.

| And there i am sticking up for my club then they play a trump card like that. A multi million pound sports team make a decision like that. Idiots. Well done Warriors for making everybody hate us even more when what we need more than anything at the moment is across the board solidarity from all clubs.
I think i can speak on behalf of most Warriors fans here by saying to opposing fans that this decision is not one we agree on so please don't bag us for a decision the club has made.

Nothing better than calling someone a halfwhit because they have a different opinion to yourself.
ATEOTD Cas have killed the British game imo. Don't be surprised at a lack of sympathy from people who want to see the game progress, want to see players getting more money and want to see money being spent.
Cas winning a legal battle brings zero long term benefits. It just maintains the sports slow decline into oblivion. If they lose however the only realistic option is to pay players more so that they don't leave. Only way that can happen is via the abolition of the cap.... that makes it a hell of a lot more interesting and possibly a retun to keeping players are the club as well as top signings as well.

And how do you propose to pay there players more money, when they are losing money from all angles? How can the game afford to raise the salary cap?

3rd party sponsorship would be one option. Rich businesses/businessmen that can't or don't want to run a club, but want to be around the sport. Other stuff like like free cars via sponsorship deals with local dealers. That's just two ideas after 2 mins of thinking.
What do you suggest? I think it's quite obvious we that we seem to be in a period of mass player migration to the NRL. We can pretend that they've gone for a "challenge' when we know it's mostly for the cash. The NRL is the top comp, but it was 10/15 years as well and we didn't see this level of movement. What's changed apart from the £s on offer?

We've 'killed the British game' by attempting to hold onto the record-breaking try scorer and keep him in the game? By not accepting a broken contract? Don't be a silly bugger. Don't see any other Cas player complaining.

If you cared about keeping him in the game you'd have sold him to Wire. He'd then still be in the game as you put it and getting paid his worth.
Let's not beat around the bush, he's coming off a record breaking season and that's pushed his value up above and beyond his current deal. If you wanted to keep him then match the offer Wire gave on his wages. If you couldn't do that then sell him.
You wanted your cake and you wanted to eat it as well. Is it any wonder he ran off to RU? I'd kind of say he pushed by Cas trying looking out for no one but thier own self interests. Don't make out it's a noble cause for the good of the game as it's a situation created from your own greed.
Maybe instead follow what the champs do and let guys go with the clubs blessing. If we cant match offers or opportunities then we let them go. Makes sense for the club AND player whilst also avoiding nasty situations like this.
