Couldn't care less about the current Wigan side, but the current Leeds side would walk all over that 90's Leeds team. It is far better now in almost every position. |

Jason Robinson, Va'aiga Tuigamala, Gary Connolly, Martin Offiah
Frana Botica, Shaun Edwards
No Saints or Leeds team has ever (and in all likelihood will ever) even come close to that level of quality.
Let's not forget also that the '94 side was, of course, the team that beat the great Brisbane side on their own ground in front of over 50,000 fans.
The tired attempts by Saints fans and others to rewrite history and denigrate the achievements of the great Wigan sides of the late 80s and early 90s are simply embarassing.'"

I should add that Wigan are also very unlikely to ever come close to having backs as good as that side. Its not an insult to Leeds or Saints, we just won't ever see their like again I'm afraid.

I'm not sure about that, there's been a couple of backlines in the NRL over the last few years that could match that side IMO.
Its the half-back partnership for me, its good, but theres been better IMO. |

For me Henry Paul was playing better in 95 than Lydon was in 92, but.... the Gregory/Edwards partnership was better than Botica/Edwards... but the 92 team didn't have the Robinson on the wing... but then again big Gene was unbelievable in the second half of the 92 season. It's a toughie!
Here's another challenge for John D H - can he come up with a better centre/wing pairing for Saints or Leeds than Miles/Offiah? (We could be waiting for a Wire league and cup double!!! )
Can he come up with a better centre/wing combo for any club? |
