Fair enough.
But the point I was making still stands. People on here have thrown mud at Saints because Longy was a wild child. That is hypocritical even currently bearing in mind you have a man convicted of assault playing for you and a drug using player who is banned on your staff. I hardly think it was necessary to sling mud at my club in that way just because Longy told stories pretty much everyone knew about anyway!

My comment was not about his unfortunate illness it was about the way it was "hushed up" by the club, ....this was the incident.

I'm a Saints Fan mate, if you read further above I've made virtually the same point as you.
Judder man if I remember correctly Wigan didn't hush it up. They kept it quiet due to Quentin's wishes, which is pretty honourable in my opinion.

Who's that?
Can't condone what Feka did, but it wasn't against a young girl was it, and he hasn't paid another bribe to stop ANOTHER assault charge from being made public.

If I were you I would rewrite that because if you have read the book, and I have, you've twisted certainly the second point (he did not beat the guy up, his mate did). He was blackmailed, he didn't pay a bribe.

It made the RFL realise that there was a potential medical risk to fellow players, I,m almost sure the "blood bin" process was rigidly applied after the incident became public through the media.

Speaking of hypocrisy, I wonder if his book explains why he was chased out of the gents at The Poacher in Winstanley earlier this year.

The facts are: Hepatitis B is a disease that can be passed on by blood to blood contact, and as the game is of a physical wounding nature there was a risk of cross infection amongst players.
It was 3 months into the season before the situation was disclosed, in the meantime the Wigoon squad were tested and inoculated, whilst all the other club players were not repeat were not given the choice over the period concerned to inoculate.
It was after the exposure that the player was given a course of treatment and a specific drug to reduce the risk of cross infection. During this treatment, the Wigoon club asked the player to stand down until the matter was considered by the RFL. The player then retired from the game.
Why did the Wigoon club deem it necessary to inoculate there own players but not give the opportunity to the oppostion players likewise.

Jesus mate, the club complied fully to the RFL rules, and could not make a player's private medical condition known to anybody else without his explicit consent.
Or would you like your employer to start putting your medical history around your company and any other potential employers against your wishes?
Get real.

Do you know what? They have learned nothing from the Chairmaker incident, and as much as what he said was disgusting and disgrace, he was completely remorseful for it.
I forgot until now how much I detest most Saints fans.
Question - how much has Long left out of his book? And I wonder how many of us on here could write an unauthorised version? I'm up for it, I have a few tales to tell!! He is an utter ar$ewipe.

| end of the day, what goes around comes around.
he has won no friends with this book and I dont expect the tv people to be queueing up to have him a pundit in 2 years time.
I look forward to seeing him in the station in Orrell in 10 years time, 5 stone heavier, broke, begging for drinks, or a place to sleep, saying 'do you know who I was....'

I can't be bothered getting involved in the general jist of this thread, because it's all a bit pointless. But I'm sure if there was a grain of truth in this particular accusation, the rest of the game would have been up in arms. Better make sure you're bang-on with your facts, pal, else you'll wind up in trouble.
That said, you've done a pretty decent job of distracting attention away from Long's admitted string of offences. So well done on that score. Though why the hell you would want to defend someone who's cast your club in such a bad light is beyond me.

| As a Wigan fan its difficult to be unbiased about Saints so I'd welcome comments from fans of other clubs, but at times I wonder what hold Saints have over the RFL - whether its the RFL ignoring Long's latest revelations about the circumstances surrounding that notorious game against Bradford (some pretty serious allegations in that book which if true would bring the game into further disrepute) or KFC's very lenient treatment by the RFL disciplinary process (again) or repeated salary cap infringements or the poor state of KR, they just seem to be treated with kid gloves by the RFL.
I'll ignore the usual inevitable nonsense and diatribes from Saints fans but would be interested to hear what fans of other clubs think: is there something in this or not, is it just part of a wider bigger club favouritism that people think helps say Leeds and Wigan too?
I remember that Wakey fans were up in arms earlier in the season about a KFC incident and the way that was dealt with by the RFL so I'll be interested to hear what they think in particular - is Long's book just part of a wider pattern of Saints "getting away with it"?

Totally selfish and corrupt from start to finish. - And he's proud if it!!
If this is what he IS admitting to, just imagine what he isnt.
He should be banned from playing or taking any part in any RL organisation in the UK
Surely he has to be the worst person set foot on a rugby field.
Agreed - the RFL would have some kind of integrity commission if they had any sense to stop players, players relatives etc. profiting from catastrophic results (such as last years Australia one)
