His lack of interest is a symptom and not the cause of this proposed move. Without wanting to have a go, it seems like a lot of Saints fans are not quite as upset as they should be about losing a great talent to the darkside, and are happy to lie to themselves that this is a good thing for their club and RL in general.

Depends when (if) he goes. He's out of contract at the end of this season; if he plays it out he's a free agent, if he leaves straight away then yeah, I'd think so.

Good grief ... RU get Eastmond and, in exchange, Saints get an old crock who they were well shot of over a year ago.

I appreciate they probably haven't much choice and that it'll only be a short-term thing, but if any situ underlined the current differences between RL and RU it's this one (especially if Eastmond goes to Sale, who are hardly a go-ahead glamour club).

Would be a mess for Hull as well. They were crying out for a new halfback to offer cover anyway with Long and Horne's injury history.

So if they lose their main playmaker a few days into the season it's a blow to them.

If Eastmond goes it will not be till the end of the year I assume, cant see Saints wanting Long back for 2012.

Obst is a blinding little player, much better 9 than half but will do a good job for them, he has stagnated a little of late at Trinity but that is probably to do with the whole situation down there, hopefully at Hull he will get some of the recognition he deserves.

I remember seeing him play for Whitehaven a few times. An excellent 7 at that level. Great kicking game too.

With the news at Wakefield where most of the players have become available as a free for all, which is very sad in my opinion, I would hope that we would be making enquiries about Aaron Murphy. Excellent young player who I would like to stay at Wakefield but it looks like he will be leaving.

They could end up in a real, real mess if this continues.

The way he hid at Cardiff, he doesn't seem like much of a loss. But I suppose he's been planning to go for quite some time, and might have been acting under orders. If he'd been comitted to the Saints cause, we would probably have seen a much more impressive performance.

Totally agree, gutted to see him go and it is long overdue that we start to look to protect our junior players. I am not saying abolish the cap but some sort of dispensation needs to be made so we can offer club produced players a real future in the game.

I agree, but at the end of the day there aren't too many beyond Wigan who seem that bothered about this kind of thing. Even those who kept assuring us it was never going to happen now absent themselves from message boards rather than admit they were wrong, let alone admit that it's bad for the game.

When I think of the 'told you so' attitude adopted by so many when Chev Walker and Karl Pryce returned, compared to the deafening silences about the losses of Chris Ashton, Owen Farrell, George Ford and now Kyle Eastmond, it makes me wonder if I'm following the same sport that once went so far as to arrange a central pot of money, discounted from the SC, in order to keep our marquee players.

But hey, if the RFL are not worried, why should we be?
