| Question on getting the train back from Old Trafford into Wigan or Chorley.
I'm travelling up from London on Saturday by train then need to get to either Wigan or Chorley train station after the game. Has anyone got the train back before and what are the best options and likely waiting times outside the ground? I think I need to get a bus or tram into Manchester Oxford Road?

Good luck with that one
you may get a train to Wigan if you are lucky (they cancelled all trains back to Wigan until about 10.30 last year), and there are no trains running on one of the lines through Bolton (due to electrification works)
trying to assist though, but i wouldnt hold my breath that these run going off how bad they've been generally
Oxford Rd - 21.14 and 21.30 to Wigan
Piccadilly - 21.44 to Wigan (1 change)
Oxford Rd - 21.46 to wigan (2 changes)
rest rail replacement
Looks like Chorley could be your best bet with a train every 30 mins from Manchester Piccadilly from 21.00 through to 23.30

| I'm in the same boat; risk one of those trains, or take the car?

| We've decided to go from Netwon-le-Willows this year due to rail replacement buses and lack of trains from Wigan. Loads of options to and from Newton and only takes 18 mins no stops to both Victoria and Piccadilly. It was a nightmare trying to get back to Wigan last year.

Fair point, i hadnt thought of Newton le Willows, even though i use it regular to travel to Chester to visit my daughter, and i've just checked the trainline, and there are plenty of trains / trains per hour

Thanks. I think Chorley looks the better option then.

| Got two tickets in block W203 when they went on sale on Saturday night, but wondered why the block directly behind the sticks was not on sale, were they saving it for the general release or had it already been sold?

The victoria to newton le willows is also transpennine express , I find the much less likely to be cancelled like northern fail trains

| Can't understand why the RFL are drip feeding tickets into circulation, they must know of the demand to see this game so why not just put what's left up for sale.

I think they have aside from the top end of the third tier.

Agreed. The amount of people I've read feel like they've been mislead into purchasing tickets 'high up in the gods' for fear of missing out due to seemingly no other alternative, only to later find small batches of available seats in better locations.
Why not just put out all available seats right from the off and give supporters the choice at the beginning of the week?
As it stands Wigan have 'nine' single seats available to purchase on their e-ticketing platform. Now if these nine tickets are the very last available to our supporters fair enough but if there's a sudden batch of a few hundred to a thousand tickets appear out of nowhere then it's a poor show (by the RFL).

| Looking at the ticket maps on Wigan..kr.. super league there ain't many left.Wigan look to have sold a pon full via rfl think because we have experience of going ot people know it's easier to get them.As for the game itself you would think it's going to be tight first v second but if kr freeze Wigan will butcher them we are looking at a very organised unbelievable team.

It's just to control how full the stadium looks I think. For a few years now in less popular areas they've sold tickets on every other row, or as it seems this year, in 2 rows at a time. Then when they've gone they'll release the rows in between.
If you look at the blocks in the 3rd tier of the North Stand on the Wigan ticket website now you can see it.

You'd imagine so, probably from Sponsors or whatever. I'm not sure how many tickets were in that block when it first came available but there are only 3 tickets in there now.
Looking across the Wigan site and the RFL site, there looks to be less than 150 tickets in total in anything past half way down our end of the Stadium. Tough to say how many Wigan fans will be in there but it must be upwards of 20,000-25,000.

There were around 30 initially, went very quickly.

It's understandable as Hull is further away and it's their first final but all the headlines have been about how many tickets KR have sold yet they haven't sold their allocation. Still 1,500 or so to shift - Wigan will definitely outnumber them.

Aye, I've noticed that. The weight of feeling around the game, especially within the written media is so tilted towards HKR. I keep saying it but there is a side going for a Grand Slam on Saturday but you wouldn't have a clue in the main. There has been the odd mention here and there since the semi but not much before and to think it would be the first in Superleague History, it's a pretty well kept secret. In fairness, I think it drives Peet and the team. He mentioned the media talk after the cup final and mentioned last week how the game wants a new winner, so if it helps us stay focussed then they can keep ignoring it.

I quite like it that whilst Hull KR will be playing in their first Grand Final, most of the City of Hull will be cheering for Wigan.

| According to RFL website just over 1000 tickets left - mainly in top tier North across full length of the pitch, plus there are 5 sections in the East showing availability. Depending on website if you hover over the section, it tells you what is left, so quickly totted up
i've not been on Wigan or KR sites, to see if they have anything available
Either way, looking like big crowd and atmosphere for the game

| KR site has quite a few left, over 100, Wigan site just a handful. Mine arrives this morning so happy bunny. I can believe the 1000 left in total looking at all 3 sources.
