| Hanley continuing to excel in the FB position according to commentators. Obviously he's not been at fault for three tries in the last two weeks.
Is it a crime to say I miss Stevo and Eddie?

| The captain's challenge is desperately needed.
We'd have had a field day with it today.

| Leeds really are a shadow of what they were a couple of years ago.
We're not great, but I don't think there's anyone in that Leeds team I'd want.

| Terrible from Hicks, just terrible.
A slight improvement from us. The discipline was a bit better and not quite as many errors. It feels like it’s guts, effort and individual magic that pulls us through. We need to work on our organisation and the halves need to take more control. Some really good performances from Faz and Havard in particular for me. It’s probably as worrying as it is impressive that Havard already looks like our best prop.

| Good win but we’re just lacking that consistency. We seem to start and end well but go off the boil 20th - 60th minute. Hicks for me had a shocker. The Briscoe try that never should have been and the Gale sin binning were ridiculous decisions IMO.
I suppose I’m looking at us as if we’re full strength. When I consider who we’ve got sat in the stands I can understand us going off the boil a bit. Improvements to be made but it’s a decent win all things considered.

| Some real positives today. I've bagged Isa a lot over the last few weeks, but he was solid today & showed great hands for the Manfredi try. Also thought that Greenwood showed up well. He looked a real handful to bring down and brought something different to the side.
Also thought Bibby played well and again ran it in hard and was a real handful. Seeing that he's our back up centre option - I'm happy with how he's progressing.

| I thought Bullock carried the ball well for the time he was on, we need another 15mins a game out of him at that level.

| I don't think, on first viewing, that Hicks was *that* bad. The Manfredi tackle-in-the air is always going to be judgement call which could go either way, like loose carries. For the ridiculous Whinos try, he was relying on a call from the touchie. If the touchie does nothing, he is never going to disallow it. Really bad official error. Mind you, I don't think French was onside for that last try. In fact, I'd say, the NRL Bunker would never have given that in a million years. On the Gale card, it did strike me that yapping to the referee like he does all game long, every game, this one not least, is not going to get you on the ref's side when he's weighing up whether to get the card out of his pocket.
But, at the end of the day, we beat Leeds!
And were comfortably the better side. But 'better than Leeds' may not be saying that much.

Best game I’ve seen from Bullock in a while, usually a decent carrier of the ball but has a knock on or 2 in him. I may be wrong but don’t think he made any errors tonight ? His carries were very strong and he put himself about in defence. Competition for places over the next few weeks will hopefully bring out the best in our pack.

| Improved performance and were very patient in order to get the win.
Defence structure and shape I felt was excellent although a bit of shirt gra bing resulting in a few unnecessary misses.
Harvard was great again but he needs to focus a bit more on his play the ball. Very slow from dominant positions and lazy to not get his foot on the ball.
Thought Hardaker was hood going forward had a difficult task in defence but generally handled Hurrell very well.
The no try that was given turned the momentum of the game we looked comfortable and dominant before that but it got Leeds confidence up and their lack dominated us for a while after that. Ridiculous error from the officials.
Bullock and Clarke strong but need more minutes from them.
Smith not his best game and will be glad to get Tommy back to take the pressure off him for a bit.
Pleasantly surprised by Greenwood who looked a handful and interested for a change.
French electric and wingers made good yards from strong carries.
Hastings though for me put on a master class today. Just controlled the game got in at the PTB at the right time with some great scoots, took on the line at the right time and passed at the right time. The kick for French’s second was inch perfect.
Still too many errors but an improvement on last week and hopefully more bodies back for Catalans which will be a massive test in a couple of weeks time.

Can't disagree with much of that but will add, Powell and Isa were excellent, two players who for some reason don't seem appreciated by some Wigan fans. Oh and Liam Farrell is still the best 2nd row in superleague.

| Farrell is one of the best players in superleague let alone the best second row. The most underrated player I’ve ever seen, it’s borderline criminal.
Seen a few mentions for Greenwood and I thought he did really well with the ball but as usual I’d like to see him bend his back more in defence. He waves his hands at people too often when defending but if he can work on that, you can see his attack added plenty to us.

| Farrell was immense, we managed well consider at one point we had Smithies and Farrell at prop with Joe Sharrocks at loose.
Think Mitch Clark is struggling to be honest and I’d look a replacing him for the Catalans game.
Bibby getting better each game.
Happy to win but looking forward to getting some players back and seeing a better performance.
We were lucky Leeds are so poor.

| Liked the look of Shorrocks as well. Came on and did his bit. Had a few hard drives. If we can keep hold of a few of these young forwards it’s going to be really hard for teams to dominate us up the middle

I think Shorrocks could be very useful if given the right opportunities. He was brilliant in the pre season game at Leigh IIRC and looks a real mixture of being skilful but really tough in and around the middle. We might have to be patient with these young forwards but if they develop as they should, we should have a fabulous pack in a couple of years.

| I was pleased to see Shorrocks get some game time too. He wasn't perfect, but he didn't look out of place, and I hope he's one for the future. Havard just looks so comfortable on the ball. I haven't seen the Catalans game, but I was told last night they looked very impressive.

| Havards stats again are immense.
38 tackles
0 misses
15 carries
129 metres
This kid is the real deal. You don’t want to over burden him so soon but eventually he looks capable of being that 60/70 minute prop we’ve craved for what feels like forever.
Let’s pray that contract is signed or will be signed soon.

| Thought our forward were great first 20. Ran in v hard with real aggression.
Intensity dropped off when they were subbed, understandably as we lost lots of size.
I would question why it took so long to bring them back on.
Greenwood showed up much better. Made good post contact yards which is something he was very lacking in last year, defence needs a bit more work still though.
We played nicely on attack first 20 but I thought the halves often took the wrong option on the 5th tackle leaving us disorganised for the last play.
Although French had some great touches would like to see him inject himself into the game more, and more effort made to put him in space by the halves.
Commitment on our line defence was very good.
Overall much better than last week and a good win with some very nice attacking play.

Not to focus on the negatives, because like you said plenty went right, but our last play options are a massive frustration.
We seem to be on top, but ease the pressure by executing poor kicks on the 5th.

Our end of set plays were terrible yesterday with even Faz kicking at one point or us getting caught in possession on a few occasions. I don’t know if Smith isn’t demanding the ball enough or they’ve decided not to put too much pressure on him but I’d be going through him 95% of the time on that last play outside the opposition 20.

I think it's something we've not been good/great at since Deacons short stint with us.
I know it's boring, but I'd much rather see us find touch and force an error through our D Vs aimlessly putting the usual bomb up in the air. We're quite robust in defence and if we can keep our pens down, then I'd much rather see us build pressure that way.

Yeah me too. How many times do we see a try come off a kick to the corner these days? If you go back about ten years it was a great tactic at the time with Richards scoring high bombs for fun. Why haven't we moved on? It would be interesting to look back through this season and last season to calculate how many tries were scored with a high bomb to the corner.
I would much rather we kick along the floor into space, maybe force an error by fumble or held behind the try line for a drop out. At worst the opposition play the ball from their own line.
