Well hopefully the beginning of next season won't be anywhere near as shambolic as this season's start.
That would help immensely.
Realistically you'd think only Gildart is in with a shout of a tour spot so they should at least have a proper pre-season together.

No chance of that happening at the moment when the coach gets the job because he’s mates with the Chief Exec.

Wane’s bloody mindedness papered over the cracks the past few seasons, but now he’s gone the recruitment and retention ”strategy” over the last few years is finally catching up with us at an alarmingly brutal rate. While everyone will be happy with Hastings and Burgess, again we’ve seen some truly awful contract extensions for the likes of Clubb, Hankinson and Joe Burgess.

The biggest problem at the club is Radlinski and he needs to go.

The biggest problem today was a lack of effort.

All night our defensive line took two steps forward then waited for the Salford player to run into (or indeed around) them. As a result they rolled down the pitch all match. You can't win like that.

I assume it was simply that the team was absolutely knackered as last week and this were both meek surrenders.

Radlinski certainly took control in the past when IL was busy with other things - that’s from a player agent. I’m led to believe IL has become more hands-on recently.

Radlinski was/is defacto “rugby director”.

So does being “rugby director” equate to currently being exclusively in charge of recruitment/retention without having to consult IL?

Does IL have no input into what the “rugby director” wants to do re retention or recruitment?

Gildart shouldnt be near the GB team, hes another thats gone backwards. For the last half of the season his form has been poor. He seems to be playing more like Sarginson. just making carries. I cant remember the last time he got the ball to Burgess with good centre play. The only good attacking play i remember from him recently was his try v Salford two weeks ago. I think Percival is seriously over rated but id have him ahead of Gildart right now and we all know Bennett will pick Watkins for right centre.

Some good points. Many players have gone backward in their game this season as they’re being poorly coached.

Give Justin Holbrook, Bennett, Bellamy, Robinson this team and watch the same players fly.

Radlinski writes the cheques, Leneghan signs them.

Maybe it’s all Radlinski’s fault then if he appointed everyone?

Have to agree..Holbrook has impressed me t saints,hasn’t made many changes really just coached players to get the best of their ability out of them

I would say no, after the poor start to the season, they are a very average team punching well above their weight , you have to give some credit to him for that . But at the end of the day the squad isn't good enough. Lots of cap money spent on under performing players .

Has Holbrook actually won anything at Saints? They always seem to bottle it at the last moment.

Has Holbrook got so much more out of his players than previous coaches?

Saints were a better team than Wigan in 2018. Wigan were champions. Which you prefer cups or being a good team?

There’s always an issue when the posters post is based off his own opening comment.

We were crap - all over the pitch and Salford were much better.

For me the biggest two gripes are lack of effort and most worryingly just how much the team have gone backwards in terms of basic RL skill and tactics. Salford won by doing the basics right (much like Saints the week before) - they did nothing fancy or clever just the basics right, something Wigan have totally lost.Both in defence and attack the basics skill sets were missing - and that is a worry, surely the most fundamental job of any coach is to ensure the team has the basics right - for me Lam does not look like a coach that can do that.

We can argue/agree over individual players all day long but are the Salford team so much better individually than Wigan, I doubt it very much - the big difference is that Salford did the basics right and looked like a team that had been coached - Wigan did not at any stage.

Wane's teams may have been dull at times but at least looked like they had a plan and had been coached on the basics. The current Wigan team have gone backwards in both those fields.
