Tempting fate? How? I said to win the comp not the tie. There's absolutely no chance of a team from outside of Super League winning the Challenge cup so why dumb it down to suit them? There have always been walkovers in RL and one or five overseas players doesn't make a jot of difference. You cannot put artificial restrictions on games - Top flight clubs plan their playing rosters to see them through the league and cup season. To then say 80% of you overseas contingent are ineligible is pointless and a prime example of the tail trying to wag the dog. Its like saying to a Premiership team that you can't play your overseas players in the FA cup against lower league opposition.

To be honest I'm not sure why I am bothering to reply to some of the plums arguing otherwise. I just thank the Lord for the good of rugby league that these people will never be in a position to make important decisions. Finally as someone has already said, its 17 v 17 at the end of the day irrespective of where those players come from. If lower league clubs were allowed five overseas players they would inevitably be of lower quality so the Super League team would still win in 95% of cases. Its known as the cream rising to the top, although I must admit I do understand how Leythers in particular have difficulty grasping that concept.

Iv been going on about this for years as have many other people, they keep mentioning the lop sided scorelines in the cup, no one seems to mention on any rugby programme that there are different rules for super league clubs to Championship clubs. Super league clubs are allowed 5 overseas players and Championship clubs 1 in the same cup. It is a massive unfair advantage to super league clubs as though they need it any way, all we want is parity each club plays to the same set of rules, is this really too much to ask?

I take it you'll also be in favour of Super League clubs entering the Northern Rail cup because by your reckoning it's a little unfair on the Super League sides who are barred from entering. How are we supposed to win it if we aren't allowed to play in it?

But the rules also state, for fks sake, that we are allowed to spend 8 times as much on players as you, if you want "equality" (in the cup ffs, whole point of the thing is you play clubs bigger/smaller than yourself) then sign another £1mil+ worth of players, or force us to play our u-21s.

I agree it isn't fair that we are allowed to play 5 overseas players while you can only play one however this is not the fault of Wigan RLFC this rule is due to the RFL and so I think you should complain to them. Shaun Wane is employed as head coach of our club and is judged on the results he gets with the team, due to this I would expect him to exploit any advantage available to him over any team we play, so with this in mind do you really expect him to play just one of our overseas players and therefore cause disadvantage to himself and the team?

We'll play with one overseas player if Featherstone agree to play the game on a flat full size pitch.

First off - is there actually a cup rule that says they can only have 1 overseas player or is this just the reality because the league rules they are subject to mean that they only have one overseas player so are effectively unable to field more than one for a cup match? If it's just the latter, then what they are saying is they want to impose their rules on SL clubs.

Secondly - this has to be the most ludicrous example of the dumbing down, level playing field nonsense that afflicts RL. I expect a Brett Kenny post is imminent.
