I reckon this is close to what we'll actually see. I don't think Peacock's current form merits a place in the team ahead of the likes of Carvell and Morley but as long as he's captain he'll play.

If Burgess is fit drop Morley to the bench and Mossop from the team.
I fully appreciate some will raise an eyebrow at Whiting on the wing but for me it is damage limitation at this stage. Charnley will open defences as will Briscoe but they are not in the same class as the NRL lads. Whiting is a very solid player i defence and also has a physical presence height etc, he may not be fashionable but for me he can finish a try and defend the threat the Aussies/Kiwis pose out wide better than any other British outside back.
If Reed chooses the Aussies bring in Bridge.'"
Whiting has had some good games on the wing for us but put him against the pace of NZ and the Aussies and he will stuggle . Atkins left him for dead last week.

| 1- Sam TOMKINS (Will be an all time great if not close to being already)
2- Josh CHARNLEY (Top kick returner and good finisher, exactly what today's winger should be)
3- Joel TOMKINS (Powerful, quick, great combination with two above)
4- Kris WELHAM (Under-rated by everyone else, top season and full of confidence, deserves a chance)
5- Ryan HALL (Same as Charnley and never let anybody down)
6- Gareth WIDDOP (Played 6 at NRL Minor Premiers all year and knows the England set-up)
7- Jonny LOMAX (Seems to be a good decision maker, knows when to run it and has genuine pace)
8- James GRAHAM (Probably the best British prop in SL, 80 minute man gives more options on the bench)
9- James ROBY (Best hooker in the comp. Clever, lively which will cause problems for Aus/NZ forwards)
10- Gareth CARVELL (Typical British forward, key to Warrington's go forward)
11- Sam Burgess (One of the best forwards in the world and a must pick)
12- Gareth ELLIS (One of the best forwards in the world and a must pick)
13- Sean O' LOUGHLIN (Solid in all aspects of the game, can mix it with the biff and also has class handling)
Interchange;-
14- Mark FLANAGAN (Coming home anyway, great versatility, can cover hooker or second row. Goes well in NRL)
15- Jon WILKIN (Class act and has always gone well on the International stage, versatile)
16- Jamie JONES BUCHANAN (Solid runner and defender and always runs good lines)
17- Eorl CRABTREE (Absolute unit, hasnt yet had he chance he deserves and has improved this year)

I disagree with most of this
No chance we can have Charnley at 2 in the 4 Nations, not good enough yet. Nor Tomkins at Centre. Nor Welham at Centre, Nor Lomax at 7
And Flanagan doesn't 'go well' in the NRL, he's a regular in the Toyota Cup. JJB? Crabtree? Come on, this is a horrible team you've selected

| Quote ="tugglesf78"Charnley is a year or two away currently for sure. Mossop has been a monster for Wigan this year and serious questions need to be asked if he is not in the England 17. I do think he will be picked tbh. McBanana was singing his praises a few weeks back.
As for Atkins.....
Hes got the physique no doubt, but his awareness is non existent. Good runner but a shocking defender and terrible hands.
Myler has improved i think, but is still pretty one dimensional as a player. He will be in contention in a year or so, but not just yet.
But as for Atkins....
'"
I've gotta disagree with you on this mate.
Last year i would agree with you on his defence and awareness but this season(and especially the last 3 month) he has been sensational in both attack and defence and he has improved out of sight. He's a must for inclusion IMO.

On form the 4 up for selection should be Bridge, Yeaman, Atkins and Jack Reed (if he could be tempted).
Shenton hasn't had a good enough season to even make the squad IMO, Welham is poor in defence, Joel Tomkins isn't a centre and guys like Watkins and Lawrence need another year.
Makes a change having some options in the outside backs though.

Peacock's recent form has been good. Not sure what you're all judging on, but the first month or so back after a career-threatening injury he wasn't up to his old standards, but the last few weeks he's been dominant. Still England's best prop along with Graham.
Difficulty picking between Hall, Watkins and BJB. Hall is dependable and is the best SL winger at Leeds, but Watkins and BJB are the ones who can do things to break an international game. Watkins is the best centre prospect in the country, but needs a full year there. But he's the biggest and fastest of the wing options, which is pretty much what we need.
Not sure who to pick between Brough and Myler as I don't know enough about Gareth Widdop's game and am selecting him on trust of other people's opinions. If his game duplicates that of Danny Brough then there's no point going with Brough at 7 and I'd pick a support runner (Myler) there. If we need Brough's kicking and creative game then he gets the call.

Mossop (as 2nd row if Burgess isn't fit, if Mossop isn't fit either, I'd go for someone like Manu - can he still play for England?)
Lomax (Utility back + rotation hooker, he'll go with Robinson for this role though)

| Has Chris Heighington decided what he's going to do yet btw? Wasn't he considering putting his hand up for England, in which case put him on the bench as the 2nd rower.

Last game I saw Peacock play in was the CC Final. Didn't stand out above any other prop forward in that game from what I could see. I've not seen anything to suggest that he is anywhere near his best since he returned from that knee injury. Like I said he'll play anyway because he's captain whatever anyone on here thinks. I just hope for England's sake that he does regain his old form

Peacock was the 2nd best prop on the field after Lima. Peacock's form has been getting better each week, he's 33 coming back from an ACL injury it was always going to take atleast a couple of months before he regained some form but as I say he is improving each week. He was outstanding at the weekend against Hudds. 150+ meteres and 30+ tackles.
