I ain't got a clue if DW is putting the rent up or if wigan are looking to get out of playing there but what i do know is that saints and wigan will never ever share a stadium.

How does it work with wigan renting the DW stadium ?

Do you make money from the sales at stadium(food & drink) or does DW get the money from it?

Corporate hospitality goes to Wigan, food and drink on the concourses to Whelan. Rent is 10% of gate money, but we don't pay for stadium maintenance.

So would you be better off in your own stadium or renting ?

Is DW happy for wigan rugby to play at DW stadium or would he rather lose his 10% and have it just for his football team?

That's difficult because I don't know the running costs.
The lease is for 50 years so Whelan can't just throw Wigan Rugby out. One of the provisos for the stadium being built was that it was for multi use (Wigan Council own a percentage)
If Whelan/ Wigan Athletic wanted too buy out the lease then it would cost a lot of money and I presume they would have to find land to fund and build a ground. It makes no sense to anyone with a modicum of business sense to have two stadia. If Wigan Athletic get relegated how would the DW stadium be funded.
If a buyer can't be found for Liverpool who would buy Wigan?

Could whelan try to negotiate a change to the 10% of gates? sure he could if he compensates wiganrl. Thats the difference between a rolling monthly contract and a 50 year contract, whelan has no control over wiganrl at all

Could he simply kick us out? no unless wigan agree to leave with suitable compensation

I'm sure that at the first fans forum IL was asked if he would be looking for a single use stadium for Wigan RLFC.
His answer was that it is simply not financially viable for us.
With the contract he'd negotiated with DW this made it especially the case as IL did feel it was a very good deal commercially.
With a 60 week or so build for Saints new place they'd better get a move on or they won't be in it themselves for the start of 2012 never mind sharing with another club.

dont know why I am bothering, but:

1) work has already started
2) who said it was a 60 week build time?
3) if it was, 60 weeks from now would be the end of October 2011. It is approximately 70 weeks till the start of the 2012 season.

Hard for him to do that when he doesn't own it
