Simply i want to see a more consistant team in 2010. If we can get that im sure we will be in good place for silverwear.

BUT....we need to make signings, none more so than a prop forward.

If he can get the pack to perform at a consistant level the backs sort themselves out, as has been shown in more than one match this year

Agree, although not on the second part, i personally think we have a squad capable of silverware IF they play to the squads strengths, something we have not done since the days of Mike Greg.

A Prop I would expect to be in a final next year but even without I think we have a pretty good shot at a solid season and an outside bet at a trophy.

If we do not recruit for 2010, 2011 must deliver some top quality.

To put it into context he's refering to that being the goal of a coach at a big club, and that it's also MMag's own goal for himself. At the end of the day you've got to have it as a goal, you've got to beleive you can do it, or you never will.

Course it should be a goal for every club. Harlequins had it as their goal laughably. Unfortunately you have to have something to back it up with other than "we're a big club". We need a few more players yet before I'd be expecting any trophies.

I don't think we should be expecting any trophies as there are teams who are currently better than us, however I do expect us to try and be more consistant through the season and not leave it till a certain time of the year to suddenly start playing. I'm sure Maguire will have the players firing with his enthusiasm and Wane will be a big plus with his passion. I'm looking forward to next season already and think we will see alot more from our players as not one player will be able to relax and think his position is safe. Here's to an entertaining year in 2010

A fitter, leaner and hungrier Wigan team. More consistancy (especially at home). PLay-offs a must and a decent cup run.
We must give the current regieme at least this season to work with what we have got and then look to progress 2011 and onwards.

Its all very well IL demanding that a trophy less season would be a failure, but the onus is on him to get MM the players he requires. Wayne Bennett would have trouble delivering a trophy with that squad.

As ive said in other threads, 2011 will be the season where wigan can win something, due to the players within their squad comming off contract at the end of 2010 and the quality in aus comming off contract at the same time.

That is why my expectations are not for a trophy as I think the season after is our season!

That is a must at least. Wire put all there eggs in one basket. They won a trophy but cup nowhere in the league. Luck had a large part to play with it. It could have easily blown up in their inbred faces. But as a wigan fan I want good rugby, I want to go to the DW knowing we are going to win and put on a show, rather than going wondering if Cas are going to turn us other, or worry about Celtic beating us. The trophies will come lets just put the foundations down before we start to build.
