| Quote ="jonh"It is a huge game, Bradford and Wire are below us at the moment with games in hand a loss would ensure in my opinion we can only finish s high as 6th at the very best, meaning we stnd no chance in the playoffs.
Prior to the Hull KR game i felt that game and the Wire game would be a true test of how far we have come this year, and perhaps indicate if BN should be offered a new deal.
In order to even consider being able to justify offering him a new deal we must win and perfrom well next week and start a run of good performances. Its getting very late in the day now regards recruitment of staff and players for 2010.'"
One of the daftest comments you have come out with. Why is it getting late in the day? because one of two clubs have announced a signing?

All the top NRL players are being signed round about now hence IL's trip to Australia, ideally we need the coaching position sorted for next year so whoever is coach has an input on the targets and gets the players they want. At the moment the coaching position for next year is not sorted as far as we know. The sooner it is the sooner whoever is in charge can start plnning, we are slap bang in the middle of signing season possibly towards the end of it for the top players the longer we have no coch for next year the further the effect will be on our 2010 season.

I think the bit in bold says it all. As much as we would all love to know the reality is we dont. IL going down to Australia with a shopping list is at this stage as much as we know. It is an important stage of planning but we haven't missed the boat just yet.

| It's an important game for Nobby.
As for the rest of us, it depends on whether we want him to remain as Wigan coach or not.
Sorry, but that's how cynical I've become.

Your right, as long as we start winning agian! If we now go on a losing streak, then I would have prefered Hull to win.
I dont see any reason why we can't continue winning though.

We played well Friday so the confidence should still be quite high.
If we can win at Wire we then have some games they must be targeting for victories in Salford at home in cup and league and then Celtic away.
Win the next 4 games and we should be looking at 5-6th position in the league and being in the semis of the cup.
Easier said then done but thats got to be the aim.

Don't tar everyone with the same brush. In fact, don't tar anyone with this brush.
I don't know a single Wigan fan who's uncertain about Noble's abilities who was then won over by the Murrayfield win. Most said that he'd need to keep on winning, and probably win some silverware, to secure his job next year. Friday night's selection farce appears to have justified their wariness.

you missed the thread after the win over saints then? not naming names but quite a few 'critics' were sounding a lot more nobby friendly. got nothing against people changing their opinions but it's amazing and slightly worrying how easily they can be swayed.

| I'm expecting a couple of changes for next week, maybe more depending upon injuries.
Hansen will replace Joel Tomkins as one of them.

![CLAP eusa_clap.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//eusa_clap.gif) Exactly.....as i pointed out two weeks ago when staying in the firmly noble out camp and getting stick for it. We should at least try to be consistant!! The whole weekly noble in / noble out routene depending upon whether we lose or win on a friday night is getting beyond a joke and fickle people on here are making us sound like dire fans.
At least be consistant and realise nobby is a limited coach with limited ideas and wont take us forward!

As I said at the time, there's a difference between congratulating a man for achieving a good win and suddenly deciding that he's a top coach after all.
Most that I saw did the former, few did the latter - except those who have said all along that he's a good coach.
In any case, whether fans are fickle or not is hardly an issue of major importance. If they can be easily swayed, so what? They're unlikely to ever be in a position where this weakness of character will hurt the club. I'd worry less about that, if I were you, and more about where we'll be in the league by the time Noble completes his current contract. Unless if, like me, you've already reached the conclusion that more losses that should have been victories will only serve to to convince the club that we need someone better at the helm.

I fully expect that also and to be fair it's probably a fair call.
Joel hasn't been quite at the top of his game this season but has done well in fits and starts.

| Hock went off injured last Friday so it will also depend if he is fit.
The long term weather for next week is dry and warm from Wednesday through to the weekend. So if it's a dry fast track then Sam has to play.
Could understand Noble leaving him out v HKR. Not his kind of pitch and I wasn't sure how Sam would have stood up to that ferocity of tackling.
There is also the Carmont problem. Played again when not fit and it cost us! Noble can't play him again until he's fully fit.
We'll have to be careful as Briers plays down their right side and if we look at all suspect he'll kick us to death.

Where on earth has this come from!!!
Sam will have grown up playing the amature game in wigan, it is still a winter league at junior and open age level and some of the pitches I have played on have been absolutly shocking! as I'm sure anyone who has played for an amature club will agree! Or do people become pro and suddenly think they grew up in the desert?!
Your not the first person to say this Father Ted, so it's not a dig at you, but I've seen it written a few times, and its utter rubbish!

| Checking the table I would say next week is MASSIVE!
With shuddersfield losing we're still somehow only 4 pts off 4th....with 13 games remaining I would expect we wouldnt catch stains leeds or KR now and would think that will be the top 3 come end of season, but with a bit of a run I think we could still get 4th....we're better IMO than those teams around that area at the moment and have potential to win far more games than them....however, losing to wire I think would make it too much....I feel we would have to go close to unbeaten til the end of the season then. Feel we need the top 4 this year otherwise forget it....the way the play offs are staged I cant see anyone winning from below 4th, yet finishing 4th offers little difference to 1st, only that we would need to play a FE away from home.
Think the equation is simple, beat wire, with the next games being salford and celtic we should be set up nicely for a charge at 4th....lose and I cant see us making it.
