Maybe a points deduction system against teams should be introduced in addition to individual player bans/punishment?

Im not saying it would solve the problem but maybe it would make players think twice about their actions knowing that they would be letting down their fellow team mates who do abide by the rules?

I dont know if its a viable option but maybe its possible.

FWIW i dont think i have ever felt so down about Wigan RL as i do today.

If the risk of ruining their career isn't enough of a deterrent I doubt letting the team would be.

And even without a point deduction him getting caught is going to effect the team as they lose one of their better players.

i d say 80% HIS doing beek i ve worked on door in ashton for 4 yrs an wigan , irlam an you would nt beleive the amounts an the age of the ppl using coke , an i live in st.helens an drink round there its madness

IMO we should stand by hock ,yes he made a mistake , but after all hes a wigan lad and a great player , he will learn his lession and im sure he aint the only player to take drugs.

I disagree.

This is not just an ordinary job. These are supposed to be Pro sportsmen and they need to start acting like it.

It needs to be drilled into players when they join the club that off the field they still represent Wigan RLFC and they must stick to a strict code of conduct set out by the club. If players dont like a no drugs/low alcohol intake policy then they are in the wrong job.

As I say, these are grown men we're talking about.

It is not the responsibility of Wigan RL to go round wiping their ar*es for them.

I agree with everything you have said in that post, but you haven't justified why docking the club points would be a suitable punishment.
