In an ideal world it would be Gleeson in exchange for Mathers and Smith, however if Wire were to accept that it was almost be on a par with the Newton-Higham swap in terms or worst transfer deals ever.

Breaking News on GMR, its just been announced Wigan have signed Martin Gleeson in exchange for Gareth Hock and Richie Mathers.

Wayne Bennett has said if there is a choice between a 20 year old with potential and a top performing 30 year old he will always keep the young player [udespite the fact the older player is currently clearly better then the younger one[/u. That is exactly he situation we are in here IMO as Gleeson is 29 in a few weeks.

People saying Goulding will never make it to justify this swap deal must have a crystal ball better than Bennett's which is of course not a prediction but a stance based on his experience.

If the club want to offload a player it should be Phelps but they can't because other clubs overseas quotas are also full and no one considers him worth taking a quota spot for. So instead we are forced into offering Goulding.

Of course this is al in the open now so if it fails to come off Noble has yet again undermined a couple of players as he offers them to other clubs.

If he has then we all know it will be down to Noble and his poor treatment of him. Yet another example of Noble's inability as a coach IMO.

If he has asked for a move he follows in Stanton's footsteps as another young player wanting away due to the way he has been treated by Noble IMO.

I really do with Noble would get the sack before he does any more damage.

Just been told by a reasonably decent source that this was never that guarateed, but has been knocked on the head as we have agreed a swap plus cash deal with Cas for Shenton.

Impossible, we've agreed Mathers and two pies for Shenton only this morning.

I think we weighed in with a carton of peas to top it.

Just been told a similar thing only my version was;
We want Shenton, Huddersfield want Gleeson back, Warrington want Whatuira and Cas want Goulding. Now Cas won't trade directly with us because we got them relegated and Huddersfield won't trade with Warrington because Ken Davey once bought a poodle off Lord Doug Hoyle that turned out to be a Cocker Spaniel. Huddersfield also won't trade with us because we gave them Kevin Brown (once bitten etc)...

We give Warrington Goulding and they give us Gleeson. We then swap Gleeson for Gidley (bear with me now). Gleeson is then swapped for Whatuira who is then swapped back for Gidley. Meanwhile Warrington swap Goulding for Shenton and then we swap Whatuira for Gleeson.
