It's not uncommon for relationships between players and fans to break down badly when the player requests a move. The fans feel betrayed - usually without knowing the full facts. The Saints' fans booing of Gary Connolly for the rest of his career is one of the best examples. I'm sure we've done it too, though I can't remember too many cases as clear cut as that.

I suspect that, in Warrington, Gleeson was a at a club where he didn't desire to be from the start. Rumours were rife around Wigan that he'd wanted to come to us, but that Saints refusal to deal with the then Wigan board had prevented it. This may explain the big difference between his patchy domestic form and his fairly impressive international form.

Let's hope a new lease of life in cherry and white will refresh his game.

A very small minority and, to be fair, he's had people slag him off throughout his time with us. Like Wigan, we have more than our fair share of fans who are complete James Grahams.*

Gleeson has been excellent for the Wire. Enjoyed watching him play and he'll be missed. Scored and created plenty on our right side and will be a real asset for Wigan. No hesitation admitting that. Why would I?

He didn't want to play for us anymore. He had already been asked to be released this year to play NRL or for the same reason in 2010. No point keeping a player who doesn't want to stay. I trust Tony Smith completely - if he didn't want him to go, he wouldn't. If he's happy, I am.

He'll be lining up for kick offs right where I stand at the HJ. I won't be giving Gleese any stick at all.

To be honest, for every dubious anti-Gleeson thread from a Wire supporters, it has been matched by an honest one like this one.

Nobody can doubt that Gleeson is a very good player and Wigan supporters should be happy we're signing him. On the other hand, Warrington supporters have every right to be happy as they are losing a player who clearly doesn't want to play for their club.

I don't care who they are, if they don't want to play for Wigan then I don't want em at all.

Go on WiganWarriors.com. I'm sure you'll find a few on there who have a problem with this signing.

The criticism that they give the players and the staff at Wigan is disgraceful. Everyone is entitled to express an opinion but they're just moaning for the hell of it.

Who are "they"? You do realise you are having a go at people who post on here because many post on both boards! There are plenty of differing opinions on there as there are here with peoples views ranging form the the team/Noble/IL can do no wrong camp to the exact opposite.

Why can't we play nicely on the Internet without such daft statements?
