| Can they increase it to 14 clubs mid term was it not set in stone there would be one club relegated at seasons end this was agreed with and voted on with all the RL clubs taking part. Reminds me of Brexit the vote was to come out of the EU now they want another vote to stay in.

| Quote ="Fantastic Mr Cat"I'd agree with this, maybe close it at 14 for now, and say to those outside if they really REALLY want to sit at the top table, they need to take some time to take it seriously, likewise to certain others in SL.
The problem we've had in recent past is teams that were lurking around outside SL promotion were flawed, fev would never have succeeded in SL, whitehaven (going a bit further back)were planning on staying part time if they got promoted.
Start taking your business seriously.(not yours, the royal your)'"
Spot on.
Let's not kid ourselves that there's this enormous pool of teams all knocking on the door to be big SL clubs. There's some traditional clubs that are simply big only in name & when you scratch under the surface they simply don't have the resources or infrastructure to do anything of note.
I really do think the game has flip flopped around enough and it's time to draw a line in the sand and say to some current SL sides - look you've got five years and it's make or break time, not only for you, but for the game as a whole in the UK. Invest in youth and facilities instead of playing the blame game and if you do that everyone we'll all prosper.
It's never going to happen tho as those without the vision to be the best have the largest say in the league.

It's not too far to think that next season we could have Toronto, Catalan, London and Hudds in the same league. It might seem harsh, but where are the fans of these clubs? That's four home games with even less atmosphere than normal - what does that look like to the casual viewer?

| I don't think Leeds will be relegated but it wouldn't bother me in the slightest should I be wrong. Assuming they do go down and their players become available are any of them worth making a play for.

I don't think we can really slag Leeds off for upgrading their ground.
The new one is looking great, and at least it's still in the same place as the old.
I wish our new stadium was where Central Park had used to be. It would feel like there was a more of a connection to our glorious past, and some of the best pubs in Wigan wouldn't have died on their a***s.

| The great thing about Leeds ability to finance their new ground is that us away fans get to help pay for it. We get to have no roof, a crumbling terrace and a 3 mile hike to the nearest bog all for £27.
Always giving the Yorkies.

| Quote ="Cherry_&_White"Leeds would be back in no time, and it wouldn't do too much damage to them in terms of fanbase/what they'll bring to the game. It might even invigorate them with a clean break with what has been all in all a dreadful few years of drift for them.
Undoubtedly bad for the game's appeal to a mass audience, but I wouldn't entertain any ideas of changing the structure to keep them in. Same with a lot the discussions with licencing a few years back, we have to ask some of the fundamental questions about what sport is there for. Fair competition, rewarding success without prejudice. I said the same when we almost got relegated, it would've been a disgrace if it was manufactured that we stayed up just because of our name.
It would be hilarious for a few weeks, bad overall, but ultimately I don't think it will happen anyway. We had quite a bit more than them at headingly the other week, but they had some big physical units which caused us some real problems, even if the quality wasn't there. The likes of Merrin, Hurrell, Singleton, even Cuthbertson will see them over the line in my view, still worry for London over the course of a full season.'"
This, in spades.
But just going back to comments about SL not being the be all and end all od rugby league: I quite agree, but nevertheless aren't league fans a bit too backward looking? You (by and large) don't hear football fans banging on about George Best and Denis Law, let alone Dixie Dean and Tommy Lawton.
I would say this to people wishing for winter rugby and corner flags in play:
a) it's just not going to happen (and I'm sure you realise that). But more importantly,
b) Ask 100 kids in the teens and twenties, the future supporters of the sport. Do you really imagine they would support your view? Not a chance! In fact, if they are at all keen on the game, they may well watch the NRL anyway, and can see from that what a great game we have when played by skilful players under good conditions..

The only thing I miss about winter rugby is the Boxing Day derby. And sacrificing that was a small price to pay for nicer weather. Anyone who yearns for a winter season wasn't there. It wasn't just the rain and sleet, or the matches cancelled due to frost and snow, it was trying to relax and drink beer in subzero conditions, it was watching pitches turn quickly to mud heaps.
However, I do think that we've failed to deal with certain issues it threw up. The Challenge Cup seems unimportant now, when back in the day it was traditionally the big event of the spring, while our attendances die off appallingly during the holiday season.

I think in addition to the boxing day derby I'd say we have missed the Kangaroo tours as well. Especially the Wigan v Australia matches.
There's also the chance we might have had a couple of genuine NRL stars over in their off season (similar to the Brett Kenny days).
But whilst overall Summer rugby is better for the spectators comfort the sport has suffered during the time but that can be part attributed to other reasons (salary cap, consumer habits have changed...etc).

That's a great listen.
Funnily enough they've raised some of the same points we have above! Toronto won't work and Bradford need to be brought back as it's good for the game.

| Hull K R have just pushed Leeds into the relegation spot by winning the derby match. Leeds will be desperate to win the match at home to Catalan who have their own problems at the moment. It's all very interesting.

| Hull KR looked good yesterday, as they did last week against London in a cracking game. Leeds are well in a dog fight as are Hudds and even Wakey. Sunday is a big day now, both Leeds and London have winnable games.

There was 2 interesting post match interviews from Parcell and Danny Mags. Both alluded to issues with the coaching at Leeds stunting Parcell's game.

| Parcell was one of the leagues best players in 2017 when he first came over and to see him fall so out of favour at Leeds has been a real shock. He’s dynamic and quick out of dummy half but can play and create for others. He’s miles better then Brad Dwyer and it’s some swap for a player like Lunt, who’s had a bad time with illness and injury.
Interesting that it’s only a deal until the end of the season and then he’s out of contract. I’d take him here without any doubt but as last night showed he’s got to be starting and doing big minutes.
