Roby played 26 games that season in 2007. He played 24 the two seasons before that and 13 games in 2004.

He didn't deserve to win it, Barrett did, but at least back up your opinion with facts.

I would hate to see Roby win it this year (despite him being a worthy winner) just because he DID NOT deserve it that year.

Whilst what Roby does is solid and a brilliant effort (unbelievable stats), I would argue that what he produces doesn't decide games and thats why he shouldn't be man of steel.

Sam has come up with big game moments time and again in recent weeks. Anyone want to point out when Roby has produced that kind of stuff to massively turn a game? Maybe I've missed it but he hasn't done it in big games, I would argue!

It is easier to notice Sams game changing moments though.

Roby constantly and consistantly does everything else right to make sure his team get a result. Just as impressive, not as good to watch. For that reason I think Sam will get MOS.

His form at the backend of this season since getting some booing from the Leeds fans has been impossible to ignore.

The Leeds fans booing sam was one of the best things to happen to Wigan this year, his form since has been outstanding, hopefully we'll see it come full circle on the 27th. Cheers southstanders

Charnley for young player of the year? i certainly think he is in with a chance.

They should simply rename the award for this year to the "Sam of Steel" and be done with it.

It's blatantly obvious that there is only one true contender for the crown in 2011 and TBH, the only votes for Roby/Chase, etc. should be coming from the Wigan players who can't vote for a team-mate.

I think it is hard not to notice his try scoring record. His best games have been in this half of the season which can only help when in the running for an award like this, his best performances have been on TV as well. His form is fresh in the mind.

He deserves it, been fantastic.

Arundle and McGilvary (especially)... may have something to say about that. Charnley certainly catches the eye.

Indeed, I can't help but think that Charnley has only really had half a season, maybe it'll go to a player that has played all/most games this season?

He has played 23 out of our 25 league matches. Along with playing every round of the cup.

Those are the stats but he has only really started to shine in the second half of the season.
