| I often stood up for Hock on rlfans when it came to internationals as I saw great potential for him, I thought he was a great player when he played to his strengths.
Not anymore though.

| When Hock is officially found guilty, do you think they will test the whole of the Wigan team. I don't think hes the only one on drugs

| I hope that we retain his cards but de register him until his ban is completed (IF he does get banned) I wouldhate to see hock play for anyother team.
Hock is a great palyer and im sure that this incident will make him look at what hes done and respond in a positive way. Im convinced if the club stand behind him he will pay them back on the field in 2 years time.
Looking to the near future i am hoping that we see mossop return to wigan as he has been playing very well.

When Connolly was a young lad he was
a) At Saints
and
b) a Fullback
Connolly was never as explosive as Ashton but he was always solid in defence. By the time he moved to Wigan he was already an International , he developed his centre play (and overall game) of course from being in a full time environment and being surrounded by better players.

I'll be shocked if he isnt sacked (assuming of course the B sample comes back positive and the RL hand out the standard 2 year ban)

He isnt too bright - the incident with the ref last year showed that but tbh taking drugs knowing your going to be tested and knowing the penalty for doing so goes beyond the normal level of stupid.

I thought two players from each side are tested after each game, not the entire team. So had Hock been luckier with the draw we would not have this thread.

That will be left up to the club, he certainly will be de-registered and so his salary will not be counted on the cap. I just hope that the club sit down with hock and come to an agreement that sees him pull on the wigan shirt once his ban is complete. I cant see hock getting a job that pays as well elsewhere as drug bans in league are upheld in union and vise versa

I don't have evidence, its just an opinion, and i wouldn't be suprised if alot of players have use drugs, because recreational drugs are everywhere in this day and age. If Hock's used the stuff, would you rekon his mates, or friends from the Wigan first team might have used it? Use your brains, i can't see him doing this act alone.

The RL will de register him so it will save Wigan the bother. Most sports have signed upto the same drugs code (WADA I think) so his ban will be pretty much global. I'm not sure how you could keep his contract and not pay him ..

| Absolute idiot. He had all the talent in the world and the potential to become one of the best England has produced but has blown it all away (no pun intended).
Can he still play amateur RL? Wigan can't possibly keep hold of him - if his B sample is found positive. So that's where I suspect he'll go. I honestly can't believe his stupidity.
It's no secret some SL players do/have had cocaine - it's the same in most sports.
What for our SR now? Recall Mossop? Promote Farrell? This really has fcked us up.

I know sacking him would be the moral thing to do to show how serious this his..But the moral will be out the window from the rest of SL when its time for him to come back and to sign for someone.
Hock owes Wigan big time. so he needs to prove this will make him a better person

What message does that send out to the rest of the team?
"Take cocaine if you want, RFL will suspend you but we won't sack you."
As if its all "OK". I'm sorry but I strongly disagree with you.
People on here are crying out for a hard-lined, disciplinarian coach who takes no sh*t - so why don't we start as we mean to go on?
IMHO I don't care that he is one of our best players or even one of SL's best. He broke RFL rules, state law, Wigan Warriors code of conduct and our trust. He should be sacked.

| Quote ="DaveO"Some friends of ours have children involved in junior athletics the drug testing there is second home for ex-Gestapo Nazi's if the tales are true. They are so strict at this very junior level it is untrue.
They are tested after a meet and if they can't give a sample, which is often the case after competition due to fluid loss they are not allowed to leave until they do and never let out of sight of the tester, i.e. they have to be watched while they provide the sample. This can be hours and hours later. Why they put their kids through this is something I wonder at times because it is not at all a pleasant experience.
To test all RL players regularly probably isn't practical for similar reasons. The time and effort taken would be huge and cost a fortune. So they rely on random tests as deterrent. The fact Hock has got caught hopefully will increase the deterrent effect.
I am pretty sure they are tested after the game and not being able to give a sample would also be a problem. They could be stuck there all weekend with 34 players to test!
Dave'"
I agree that this issue will increase the deterrent effect but I feel that there will still be some who believe that they wont be caught like Hock.
I understand that providing a sample after a game can be an issue due to dehydration but this can be resolved by obtaining the samples prior to the game.

| I'm not defending Hock in any way, if his B sample is positive then he should be banned from the sport. But the substance found in his system was Benzoylecgonie, a metabolite of cocaine. However it is also the main pharmaceutical ingredient in Esterom, a solution used for muscle pain relief.

Unfortunately, I agree.
Imagine the uproar if it was Riddell, or Fielden who had tested positive for banned substances.
Everyone on here would take the moral stance and be calling for the club to sack them. And if we didn't it would be further proof that Wigan RL has declined etc. etc.
Just because Hock is one of our best players, it doesn't make this forgivable.
