IL and BN are both responsible for signings. Wigan don't recruit unless the head coach okays it. BN was more than happy with both Riddell and Roberts.

Interesting that it says "close to signing" rather than 'in talks', 'rumoured to be' or something similar. Suggests to me that they know something.

Hopefully the guy can come in and sprinkle abit of the Melbourne magic on us. They've built a side around their homegrown players and shrewd signings and thats what we need to do here.

That's very true, the Melbourne model of team building would suit are club down to a tee. We have the youngsters we always have, what's let us down in the past have been are overseas signings that were brought in for experience and leadership, get that part of are recruitment right and we'll be on to a winning formula.

I hope, if McGuire signs, that doesn't mean that Waney leaves. He is so highly thought of at Wigan. It would be a crying shame to see him take that skill elsewhere.

I think the point he was trying to make was that IL could come out and say "Brian is going, the new coach will be announced in due course" and you said that would be daft. Having seen Celtic do it, imo it seems logical.

Hey, all our positions on these things are well known. I don't want to get into it again - causes ill feeling after a while. But if someone calls me out, I have to respond and if possible - and it was in this case - make him look an even bigger plonker.
